Vodafone launched Wifi Calling today but i assume iPhone 6 customers need to wait until next week so we get a carrier update from Apple?

They said rolling out over the next few weeks. I think some articles reported it as if it were available today.

Shame it is contract only but no different from EE in that respect.
I guess it will give us a good hint to which phones will be VoLTE, that's if Vodafone actually publish a list of WiFi calling phones.

Which other Vodafone markets offer WiFi calling? I know most now offer VoLTE but I've never seen much about WiFi calling.

I'd say none. In fact how many networks outside the US other than EE do it (without an app)? There can't be many.

Good point, I don't think any countries that speak English as the primary language.

I wonder how responsible WiFi calling is for the VoLTE delay. I wish VoLTE came first though like with At&t and Verizon, but it isn't to be.

Only reason T-Mobile and Sprint WiFi Calling for years was because of Verizon and AT&T having literally all the low band spectrum and they simply couldn't compete so it allowed them to ensure there users got a reliable signal at home.

If I remember right T-Mobile even offer a special router for WiFi Calling.

But as you say there hasn't been a lot of networks in Europe that have launched WiFI Calling I know SwissCom has.

So they do, good spot. I'm surprised they launched it with just the S6, I guess it is sort of a public beta.

Three's version out for a couple of years is available to all 3 customers. Strictly does not work abroad when in a 3 at home country, but I found it worked via a vpn.

Works with text as well,

Had mixed results when I was on EE with wifi calling. Volte really needed to make it work properly though. I kept forgetting I was calling on wifi and walking out or range of wifi 😖

Haha I keep forgetting the same thing or sometimes I will be on WiFi and not realise. So yeah I've been looking forward to VoLTE so it fixes my stupidity about that lol.

According to the Vodafone website this is only going to be available on the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Hoping that's just initially....

a Pay monthly Red or Red Value Bundle, Red+ or Business Premier*
iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus”

Surprised that they can even limit it just to the 6S and 6S+ would of thought the Apple Carrier update would go out to all devices at same time.

They can limit it to newly provisioned accounts / upgrades. Then activate all PM accounts later. It's unlikely they need a carrier update, as they will have likely built it into the current one. However they can also restrict it to iOS9 updated devices 9). Plenty of options to restrict it. There are some improvements to the WIFI calling in 9 'under the hood'.. mostly just bug fixes though.

Yeah I've got that on my other SIM but my main number is on the VOD SIM. I suppose one good thing for PAYG customers is that the price of sure signals may fall significantly as wifi calling takes off.
