They can limit it to newly provisioned accounts / upgrades. Then activate all PM accounts later. It's unlikely they need a carrier update, as they will have likely built it into the current one. However they can also restrict it to iOS9 updated devices 9). Plenty of options to restrict it. There are some improvements to the WIFI calling in 9 'under the hood'.. mostly just bug fixes though.
Ok, question.

I have my number with an iPhone 6 and have just bought an unlocked iPhone 6s from Apple. Will my number be activated for wifi calling?

Also, I have just upgraded a sim only on my account to an iPhone 6s but that handset will be used on a line that had an iPhone 6 attached to it. Basically swapping phones around depending on user requirements.

Should be, may have to call up and bitch to them about the first number. There is no reason to withhold it from a 6s bought elsewhere (same phone, software, carrier update), but may need a manual provision depending on how they roll it out on their system.

iPhones are usually exempt (thanks to what Apple negotiate with networks) from daft restrictions like this.

Thanks Lucan,

I just called Business CS. They were quite happy to add it on to my three lines however there are a few bugs in the system which are being sorted just now. It was supposed to launch Thursday past but it was held back.

Hopefully they'll add the UK dialling tone to it!

Yeah. Although I don't mind it, reminds me not to walk out of wifi range

I'm hoping it comes to the big corporate deals as my company (probably around 9000 or more lines) needs this...!!

Not available for any form of One-Net customer so that's our company screwed.

Pretty peeved about that tbh.

Apparently if you call up you can get it turned on for the 6s

Have you had a carrier update?

I have it working on my iPhone 6s from Vodaphone. However I notice that the IMS status is voice only unlike EE which is Voice and SMS. So it looks like Vodaphone have only half implemented the solution.
