Why's Robert protecting Tracy?
He wanted Tracy to tell Carla the truth about the fire but he wants Ken to think Tracy may have been lying when she confessed to Carla. I'm confused.

I wonder if Robert accidentally killed someone himself and therefore understands what Tracy is going through.

He wanted Tracy to tell Carla so she wouldn't torture herself but not for her to end up in Prison.
They discussed that there wasn't any hard evidence when Tracy said that Carla would tell the police if she confessed. Basically, he loves Tracy and wants to be with her so not in Prison. But he also didn't want to see another woman suffer believing she was guilty of causing 2 deaths she she wasn't. |

I get that everyone has someone out there that will love them no matter what, but it's hard to believe in Robert sticking by Tracy. Yes they were married for years, but she was a very different person then (literally), and they split for a reason. Corrie pitching him as the one that got away just feels a bit like rewriting history. It's all very new at the moment, and he should be horrified by her past, but it doesn't seem to faze him much. There's something amiss there.

I think Robert is there to 'take the place' of Deirdre as the one who gives Tracy the benefit of the doubt and backs her up - realistically none of the established characters would ever do that.

I was stunned when Robert lied to Ken about Tracy's involvement with the fire; it doesn't make sense when he was the one begging her to own up. If the police had done their job at the time (in Wetherfield !!) they would have found CCTV footage of Tracy, but I suppose it is too late now and she will get away with murder once again.

First cooking stuffed marrow and now sympathising over TracyLuv's awful actions. I'm really concerned they are trying to fill the shoes of Deirdre already. Will we see Robert wearing chain belts and knocking back the red wine?
![]() I reckon Robert is after some sort of revenge and has ALWAYS been after some sort of revenge. I don't believe for one moment that he came back to pay his respects about Deirdre or because he "suddenly" realised he loves her, but Tracy's so gullible; believed it! Eventually I hope he dumps her like everyone else does cos let's face it, she hardly has many loveable qualities and no way should she just get away with what she did - whether it was a genuine accident or not - or land a guy apparently like Robert in the process. Although the fire may have been an accident, what she did to Carla, the Nazirs and Sophie etc was awful. |

Corrie is just rubbish nowadays. Everything is nonsense.
Nick, who has mild brain damage( now forgotten about) phones the police about a supposed arson/murder attack which has already been resolved . It could have been anyone phoning,, but the police immediatedly rush into the packed Rovers and charge Tracey with murder without questioning anyone. |

. You'd have thought in these days of everyone recording everything they see, hear and do onto some device or another, that there might be some audio evidence on someone's phone, even if there was no CCTV footage (which, outside a comparatively swanky place like Victoria Court, you'd have thought was pretty much a given). |

CCTV doesn't exist in Corrie-land. You'd think with the high crime rate, people lying and setting up others, characters would learn to use some sort of video surveillance. And for once I would like a character to use some sort of audio recording to get somebody's confession.

I like Robert, he's nice looking in some lights and he's quite manly enough.
Bearing this in mind, his card is no doubt marked as the next serial killer bloke, who spontaneously and irrational decides to embark on a pointless killing spree, no doubt to cover up the fact that someone has discovered he once called a policeman a nasty name! |

Actually in this particular case it would be manslaughter (murder is 'with malice aforethought' as in a deliberate bash over the head), but I echo your sentiments.

Otherwise Carla would have been charged. |

It was an accident, nobody died in the fire who was in the flat. The fellow (forgotten his name) went inside on his own accord (fire people would have told him not to if there), and Maddy ran across a corden, so her own fault too.
Otherwise Carla would have been charged. Quote:
He loves her so much that he didn't bother to see her since she has had a new head
