Watched another episode the other night and he made something that he described as popovers.

Now, the only time i've heard that term before is by North Americans and it's pretty much a Yorkshire pudding.

What Oliver made was just a thick pancake or drop scone.

It's one of those trivial annoyances when chefs decide to just call an item something completely different.

I've caught parts of a few of the new shows, and to my consternation somewhat, it's struck me I now think he's, ahem 'alright' for not being fat any more. Mind you, not sure how long his weight loss is going to last - none of the meals I've seen him serve up so far have been less than 500 calories per portion!! You can get the ultra-nutritious beans on toast to clock in at under that.

The thing is that at the moment he's banging on about low fat, nutritious healthy meals.

Keeps telling of the alternatives to the regular items you would use and giving calorie counts - but no mention of cost.

Probably because most of the alternative ingredients cost more than regular.
Whereas in his last series it was all about cutting costs.

and in the series before that it was all about comfort food with plenty of butter and cheese etc.

So even though I watch his shows for the recipies I can't really take his banging on about a theme or message seriously as it'll be completely different in his next series.

Late to the discussion () but I will also confess to liking Jamie Oliver.
My cooking confidence comes from having cooked his recipes starting right at the beginning with The Naked Chef book and series.

I'm not one who measures things out so his 'glugs of Olive Oil' and 'whack in a handful of Parsley' measurements suit my style down to the ground!
