In what way?

I think he's quite a good creative writer - i still think Bobby being Lucy's killer was the best possible resolution, both for the actual whodunit and future storylining.

However, I'm really not sure about the 'canoe man' inspiration for Kathy's return - it would work for a lot of characters, but not Kathy as it goes against everything she stood for morally in terms of leaving her children.

I'm so hoping there is more to it.

He seems quite a cheery soul on the BBC Red button special. I think his stories are 50/50.

Both are younger than me too.

Hollyoaks & Neighbours also have gay men at the helm of their shows.

If someone straight made that comment there'd be uproar. What does their sexuality have to do with anything?

Not talking about their sexuality more like male posturing

Comments like that are so 70s. Plus DTC and the story producers don't get judged by there sexuality . If there gay good for them. To me they should be judged on storylines and script writing.

Controversial opinion time...but I wouldn't be totally against EE bringing back Louise Berridge if she was interested and they offered. Of course this would be post-DTC which I hope doesn't happen anytime soon. She was a capable EP who started out very strongly, but her work suffered in 2004 for reasons beyond her control. Forget the Ferreiras, and you'll see that she introduced some excellent characters in her time. She was not Bryan Kirkwood.

Of course this will never ever happen since she has now gone into writing novels. Just wishful thinking on my part.

Well he wouldn't be married to his wife if he's gay would he I don't get why you seem to be making sure everyone knows they're gay when this thread wasn't even asking that in the first place

I like him he obviously has EE passion and I do expect him to take over from Dom but I hope that doesn't happen for a good few years.

I don't get what the producer's and writer's sexuality has got to do with anything? It seems that their sexuality was actually the whole purpose of this thread. I agree with Sorcha that if someone straight said "Straight people run [insert TV programme]" there would be uproar on here. One of those late night threads that will look different in the morning!

nothing at all it doesnt affect their ability to do the job.. but gay man jealousy seems to be a problem on here. some seem very jealous of gay men doing well maybe its cos they like to blame being gay for stopping them being successful in the same field these men are excelling in

well he might be! some do still try to deny it and marry women

I hold my hand up and admit to sometimes being envious of men like DTC & Alex Lamb, they are living the dream.

As a gay man I totally agree. Someone's sexual preference does not show how good they are at producing a soap.

You are good at writing so why not send some of your writing and story line ideas to the BBC's Writer's Room? DTC and Alex Lamb started somewhere so you can always send some writing and see what happens. You won't lose anything.

I agree. Also if someone straight harped on about their sexuality the way Vaslav does about his they'd be told to shut up in no uncertain terms. I thought gay people wanted to be treated the same way as straight people in this day and age but Vaslav wears his gayness as a badge of honour. "Look at me, I'm gay so I'm special". All the other gay blokes on here act normally, they don't make a big issue out of it.
