Does anyone use them? Mainly the facial products? Especially the seaweed and/or the tea tree collection?

I use the aloe range on my face and really like it, and a lot of the bath and shower products and perfume. You can always get really good discounts on their website too, and of course they're cruelty free.

My wife used to love going in to Body Shop but now she says every time she goes in staff immediately come up to her to try and talk about some product or other.
It is damn annoying, I know, I've experienced it in there too and I'm sure it puts people off, certainly my wife would spend a lot more time in there and spend a lot more money if she wasn't constantly having to fight off staff.

The Body Shop (owned by L'oreal)is a complete sham now. The exact opposite of the business set up by Anita Roddick.

They're not cruelty free, they're owned by Loreal, who do test on animals. It's a bit of a grey area, for want of a better phrase. Body Shop products themselves are not tested on animals - but the money you spend in there goes to their parent company, who do test on animals.

Nope, I work outdoors quite a bit and I go to Holland and Barrett for their reviving aloe vera gel and skin lotion - great as a soothing after sun treatment.

Totally agree. I've gone in there before and then walked out without buying because the staff don't leave you alone.
The second you walk in, they're on you and even if you refuse their offer of help, they follow you around making suggestions. Drives me mental

Because of the MRSA in the wounds I find normal shower gels awful.
I have been using the Body shop Fuji Green Tea gel and its about one of the only ones out there that doesn't burn or make things worse.

but totally agree it does my head in the soon as you enter the store "can I help you? "
and yes the fact its now owned by L'Oréal doesn't sit well. Its like Liz Earle being owned By Avon what started out as a company with a set of clear principles doesn't seem that easy to understand anymore now which is a huge shame.

Liz Earle company was recently sold to Boots Alliance, so not part of Avon now.

Jeez I remember the good old days when Liz Earle first came out, she launched on QVC and her products were only stocked in a couple of salons in London. Back then her range was really good; I always bought her stuff from Hampstead. Don't buy it anymore, the bigger the company has got the poorer the products seem to be.

As for Body Shop, no I don't tend to buy things in there. I used to love their body creams but I wonder whether they've changed the formula as it seems to smell so artificial now.

Exactly so and that's why I don't shop there any more after using their products for years. As someone else pointed out, L'Oreal does test on animals, so...

Neal's Yard products are very good and remind me of early Body Shop.

Also most Boots products are made in China now and therefore are tested on animals .

Superdrug own brand products are good budget buys and not animal tested.

The products don't seem the same as they were when they were first introduced. Have they changed the formulas? I use the Superdrug equivalent of the hot cloth cleanser and its is just as good as the Liz Earle one.

As for the Body Shop I like the body butters.

We are using a Hemp body butter from body shop and I have to say its perfect. We were using it as well on our son eczema skin. Worth to buy. You can negotiate a price if you want to buy 2 pieces !

I wonder if anyone has ever gone in there and said "hello, I'd like to buy a body"

the instant "Hello can I help you" is getting really annoying in there.
drives me nuts because they instantly make you feel uneasy.

The being pounced on makes you feel like they think you're a shop lifter. They follow you about and fiddle with things and the minute you touch something they're going on about how nice it is.

I use Seaweed facial wash (good for oily skin) and Nutriganics Day cream (amazing on dry skin), both amazing, body shop are the only products I can use without irritating my skin so they must be doing something right.

I haven't set foot in the place since Anita Roddick sold out to L'Oreal. Shameful.

I understand where you're coming from with this but having worked in retail, I do have sympathy for the assistants. In many shops there is a protocol of what they are supposed to do when a customer comes into the store and they are constantly being mystery shopped and pulled up for it if they don't immediately ask if the customer needs any help etc. It's annoying sure, but they're just doing it so they don't get a bollocking from their manager. In my experience, being polite and saying you're just browsing and not looking for anything in particular is enough to get them off your back.

Really frustrated they've stopped their White Musk body powder. Love their White Musk range it has a gorgeous smell. Last week one sold on Ebay and the final bid was for 35 pounds! So others are obviously missing it too!
