Happy Saturday Oaky Folky

I haven’t done one of these for a while, so I thought I might as well put one together.
It’s been another thrilling week in the Chester village and I’m sure the same will happen next week. So what’s been happening and what shit’s going DAHNNNN next week?

The poll is based on the YouTube videos at the end of the round up.

And Chase,

I expected more from a drunken rant Wonky, were was the uncontrollable rage and bitterness and the declarations of love?
I promise to be angrier and declare love to all more often. regardless whether I’ve had a drop of the ol’ ale or not

This Week

uosɐǝɹ ǝɯos ɹoɟ ɐıןɐɹʇsnɐ uı sɹǝʇıɹʍ ɹoɟ buıʞooן ǝɹɐ ɯɐǝʇ sʞɐoʎןןoɥ ǝɥʇ

Sienna is in grave danger

Hay, Ste's having a breakdown

Coming Soon

It may not be a lovely day for the Lovedays as newcomer Jade makes an appearance

Reenie plans to get Derek wrecked

Waveguide Spoilers

15th September – 25th September

On this Day

Plenty of good stuff this week

12th September 2014 Bev and Ron are concerned when Josh suddenly falls ill...Later, Josh reacts badly when Ron and Bev announce their engagement. Apparently

Promo for week beginning 12th September 2011. Warning: contains Jono, but thankfully has Terry the Dog to make up for it.

12th September 2007 Featuring Nancy’s pink hair. My old favourite

Random Throwback

“Get the Hollyoaks theme on your moby”. Those were the days

Enjoy!

Those ****ing links were ****ing me off something terrible

Is that angry enough Chase?!

Hi Jimmy, thanks for the thread.

I'll read all your links soon but currently I'm too excited about the Labour election to think about anything else. I can't believe it's actually happened!

Hey

No worries. I just saw the news too, good ol' Corbyn eh?

I'm glad he got the nod. I wish I bet on him getting it though, he had odds of 100-1 initially

Aye, terrific stuff. Tom Watson is fabulous too, I love him. I'm just delighted.

*high fives*
Oh christ, that would have been a nice little earner then. I was considering betting more recently but it wouldn't have been worth it, he's been such a favourite.

It was a tough call between Jacqui, Lynsey and Silas but I chose Silas. He'd take care of the female deadwood if not the Roscoes We don't need Jono back, Tom more than fills the show's quota of sheep heads ...

So it seems Jade is

Spoiler

And if they're bringing in staff from Australia, in the interest of cultural sharing can we send Birkwood out there in exchange? In less than a month there'll be love triangles, kidnappings, gangsters and pregnancies all over Summer Bay ...

Hey Bob!

Yeah i never realised too! Figures are a long way from that now, but viewers have drastically fallen from all shows since that link was first put up in 2003.

I think Corrie used to get around 12-13 million per episode compared to 6.5 - 7.5 now but that's just how viewing habits have changed.

I never had the Hollyoaks theme on my 'moby' though and that was the best version of the theme around 2003

The worst was the 2005 - 2007 one, before Kirkwood's first set of titles similar to today's ones.

Yeah EastEnders used to be around the 14m mark I'm sure but never realised Hollyoaks had so many viewers anyway. I always thought it used to have between 1-1 1/2m maybe 2 as a max but never 5!

The theme was good then but the current ones alright, could be better though I guess

It's why I made the poll one character only

I'm sure you're right about Jade. But hopefully the story will be interesting.

Yeah, ship him out! Hopefully get lost on the way.

I'm sure I remember being around 3 million, maybe it peaked at 5 for the Toby Mills story which was big at the time?

I always wanted to make a techno remix of the theme, but never got round to it

Maybe one day...

I check BARB to see how accurate this was and according to their figures they were they were getting ratings well over 4 million circa 2001 and were even the most watched show on channel 4 for some weeks :

Ah. Good find there. Interesting that it was beating Brookie there. Doesn't show much for the rest of their line up if the top 5 was Hollyoaks / Brookside and Shipwrecked!

I think though, those ratings were combined showing with the original broadcast and omnibus repeats added (T4 for Hollyoaks and Shipwrecked / Saturday afternoons for Brookside) which inflated viewing figures and isn't done today.

Still, thanks for finding that

I guess the Toby Mills story was big because there was late night specials & stuff like that apparent.

Thanks for that. Interesting it got more viewers than Brookside most of the time as Brookside was more 3 million, apart from the Susannah murder SL which sent viewers up to 6 million which presumably was really good for them.

Very interesting how suddenly Hollyoaks was beating Brookside as Brookie was beginning to be pushed around the schedules in prime time & Hollyoaks was still in the 6:30 slot so maybe this explains why? I also guess that C4 saw Hollyoaks as more of a meal ticket since it was relatively new, got lots of viewers for 6:30 & had a teen following, something that the other soaps didn't have in as much quantity.

Whereas Brookside had its history but people did see it for it's outlandish stories & lesbian gangsters & wasn't able to shake that off despite being more grounded at the beginning of the 2000's with the Murrays etc.

Weird how Hollyoaks has now become a modern day sensationalist Brookside. All we need now is a cult church SL & for Pete to be killed by Cleo & buried in a wall somewhere.

I did figure out the Australian link bud, that's why I mentioned it in the first place!!! LOL

Yup & Ellie's accent grated each time she said 'Toby'!!! It drove me up the bl**dy wall!! Toby storyline & the dismal Bombhead was something else!!!

Now, it's so much better, Nico's funeral poem about blood clots & scabs proved that!!! *rolls eyes*

Howdy all! Still gutted Lynsey left! She was one of the first characters I actually cared for.

Actually looking forward to the Loveday flashback ep, look forward to seeing younger versions of Simone & Louis. Pretty obvious Jade is going to be revealed as Lisa (Reminds me of the Ivy/Lola twist in Gossip Girl ) . Anyone remember creepy Jade who killed Callum? (Callum's another death I'll never get over).
