Yes it would. My mother was one such who was unable to breastfeed me and had to go over to the bottle when it was discovered i was losing, rather than gaining weight. I don't think she ever really got over it, the mere fact that she used to talk to me about it as an adult shows that - though maybe i think she was preparing me in case i had the same problem if and when the time came.
Yes, mothers should e encouraged to breastfeed but they should also know that it is okay if they don't or can't and it doesn't make them 'less' of a woman or 'less' of a mother.
Just as women wanting to breastfeed in public can face discrimination, so can those mothers that either can't or choose not to, especially from other Mothers who have breastfed.
