Americans generally perferring CBB to BB17USA

What do you think of this? Are us Brits too judgemental on series due to the classic years?

On Twitter, I've read a lot of messages from American viewers who are finding CBB incredible compared to BBUSA17 (the current series over there). Tweets saying that we have better contestants, a better presenter, better format, better storylines and better twists.

Makes me wonder, despite how different C5 BB is now then it was between BB1-BB2, should we feel a little bit content that somehow people from different countries are enjoying out countries BB than their own?

I have been watching BBUSA, it's OK, but I prefer CBB. It makes me wonder how bad some BB's around the world are. I enjoyed Australian BB and love Italian BB, but in those countries, the viewers prefer BBUK too.

It's job done as the whole format now is more geared towards the American show and what their audience prefers

I would rather watch a normal series of BBUK with a good mix of HM's rather then so called celebrities. The golden years were bb1-bb9.

Is it sold abroad out of interest, or are folk just watching online?

I don't like this years show. I think the two American girls are playing it the way they think they are expected to play it - ie lots of arguments and slagging off of other people behind their backs. Most American Reality shows seem to thrive on this formula - all the Houswives of Beverly Hills, New York etc are the same. I just can't watch them - in the end it's a big borefest.

I used to love CBB - seeing celebrities making t*ts of themselves in unexpected ways. This series is the worst yet IMHO

This is my first year fully watching BBUSA and I'm enjoying it more than CBB at the moment. That's not to say I'm not enjoying CBB either but for me it's more about seeing a different format and I know both shows are manipulated but I find it refreshing that in the USA even if production tries to manipulate essentially your fate is in your hands. Win comps and save yourself. Also they are not taking the public's money whilst manipulating things we see and influencing the public's opinion

The Americans are too much and the British are too dull. Complete mismatch so very little real dynamic between the two sets. As normal the British are trying to ride the 'nice' ticket until the final and hope they win it on penalties and the Americans are going drama heavy which just leads to a lot of shouting and putting the B in subtle.

I think the Brits seem to under appreciate most of their talent and offspring.

I love that they're watching and loving it and can see why it's a great draw. There's heaps of differences, not least with the House itself. For example, the US don't have a diary room? Is that still the case.? Plus obviously there's the off the scale drama and the whole competitive thing, but the stark contrast between the two countries has been really fascinating to watch. I also think that Austin and to a certain extent Janice, with their love of the UK have provided additional compulsive viewing, because their behaviour has bridged the gap between the two.

i think the Speidi series was worse to be honest. If they had been evicted in the first week then there literally would have been no show!
I think this series could just about carry itself with the loss of one of Farrah or Jenna, the loss of both - then it would struggle.
But otherwise its not been great, probably the second worst C5 CBB.

I think you're right. It's for this reason I cut the American women some slack. BB would have told them that this is what the show is about. They know its tagline is UK versus USA, so they will have gone into this show on the understanding that this is what the show is about.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if BB wound them up before they went in and exaggerated the battle element and telling them what the viewers want. Like it was a WWF tag team thing.
I think it's important to consider this, and how much the housemates may have been primed and manipulated before they even went in there.

Alot of it could be the mentality of 'the grass is always greener on the other side'.
You get sick of the same old thing so when you see something different it suddenly feels more exciting.

It's hard to say which one is better, I think BBUK is better in some ways and BBUS is better in others.
I just wish BBUK would stop with all the tasks designed to start drama and arguments, it's so draining. There needs to be more fun tasks with silly costumes that forces them to bond, even if they don't really want to.

Just online. Since BB7 Endemol UK has taken steps to make it difficult for BBUK/CBB to be viewed abroad, though it's easier to find streaming options these days.

The latest series of BBUS is winding down to its final weeks now. It always sheds viewers as things become more predictable, but there does still seem to be a great deal of negativity about this CBB on Twitter and elsewhere.
