bread making in mixer
just tried to make some bread using my new mixer, i find the dough seems to stick to the dough hook and go around in a big ball. I had to take it out and knead it by hand, which if doing that I may as well do it all by hand.
i used to make bread years ago, but in a industry mixer, as lot different. Never made bread in a mixer at home before, even with the kenwood. so what am I doing wrong? Thanks |

Is the dough ball going round and also making contact with the sides of the ball - that's what it is supposed to do after the ingredients have mixed.
My late dad made bread in a Kenwood Major every week for 40 years and it always used to do that. Bread turned out fine. Though the hook in the Major went round in a circle as it was rotating thus kneading it against the sides of the bowl - if you know what I mean.My breadmaking has been limited to bread machines which have a fixed paddle but in an oblong pan which has much the same effect. Maybe you aren't making enough dough at one time so it just spins ? |

Thanks for that, I now tend to mix with the dough hook for a while and then finish off the kneading by hand, does a better job.
