"I have enjoyed 25 and a half wonderful years in EastEnders creating the character of Pat but feel it's time to hang up her earrings," the 69-year-old said. "Leaving the EastEnders 'family' will be akin to a bereavement, but I'm looking forward to the other work and life opportunities that I will have the time to pursue."

it was never 2 months

F**k Kirkwood and his stupid decision. The actress even asked not to be killed off and he reassured her... then when it came to it killed her off anyway. I don't care how they do it, but just get EastEnders top writers to come up with a plausible storyline and get Pat Butcher back on the square pronto!

Do you seriously believe that she asked for a couple of months off so they killed her off?

A bit over the top. Pretending a whole year of storylines was a dream is quite a bit worse than killing Pat.
