When people in soaps die, can they not just remain dead and employ imaginative writers who can create new iconic characters.

You're just being silly now....

Utterly agree. The dead should stay dead, past character, even if alive, should only be brought back if they have long term plans for them and have worked out what they would be like now rather than it being a gimmock or relying on the nostalgia and the main effort should be put into creating new characters than can become iconic in their own right.

Lets hope they have long term plans for Kathy and she doesn't end up serving breakfasts in the cafe again.

We may not have saw him die but we saw Patrick identify his body. Therefore he is definitely dead. They got around it with Kathy because her supposed body was identified by Gavin's sister an unknown character. There's no way they could bring back Paul and have it that Patrick misidentified his own sons body. That would be a step too far.

I distinctly remember Patrick identifying the body, so that's gonna be 1 hell of a recon.

I liked Paul and would like him back, BUT-his Dad saw his dead body!!
