fouling in the garden

One of our local cats has taken it upon itself to start using our front garden as a toilet.

Any hints on how to deter the little beggar would be very much appreciated, I'm sick of getting home from work to be met by a couple of 'presents' by the front door!

Get a decent water pistol and shoot at it every time you catch it.

Or borrow a dog and give it a fright a couple of times.

After spending a small fortune on various deterrents, these are the only things I've found to work..... that and making myself known as a psychopath cat hater so everyone nearby knows to keep their pests well away from me

Thanks for the suggestions.

The little sod seems to only do it when we're out at work so the water pistol isn't an option and I cant borrow a dog as I've got 2 cats myself!

I've heard coffee puts them off and they don't like strong smells like lavender or tea tree oil so might give that a go

Maybe you could try something like this...

There's soil at the front door where it's going to the toilet?

Yes, the path leads up to the front door and on the right hand side there's soil

There's a whole range of smells and plants they're supposed to not like - though I think it does depend a lot on the individual cat. My sister used a sonic cat scarer successfully in her garden.

cats dont like citrus so perhaps you could plant some lemongrass or lemon mint up the path to deter it

OP where are your cats going?
If they are going in someone elses garden maybe it is karma,
Sorry couldn't resist

Being indoor cats they use their litter trays, apart from the odd accident in the bath! 😁

I am not advocating this, this is something I read to stop dogs toileting in somebody's front garden - sprinkle chilli pepper around where the can goes pee pee and poo poo. I don't think I would do it myself.
