I've never seen such a stoic character such as her, it's like she dead inside been starved of any emotion.

Her bond with Matthew is non existent, she feels nothing for Charlie, she doesn't seem to have much of a expression nowadays, has everything that happened to her made her such a ice queen it seems.

I give it to Sam Womack it must be draining playing such a depressing character.

I agree - she seems to have barely any emotions anymore She only seemed happy when she was with Vincent

Agree. Can't believe how much my opinion has changed of her in a few months. One of the worst characters in soap right now She should just leave really. What is the point? She is never going to be happy

Seeing as what they've done in the last few months, Ronnie would've been better off coming back last year than 2013. It wasn't hugely necessary to have her kill Carl White so soon after getting released from prison. The repeated breaks since her return have hurt continuity but the writing has been terrible this year. The Charlie/Roxy affair was the starting point. I reckon Charlie might have remained on EE had they kept him away from the Mitchells, instead pairing him with someone like Stacey (he's Dot's grandson and she was very close to her due to Bradley). Stacey would've approached Nick's return in a very different manner.

Samantha Womack is a capable actress but the writing for her this year has been shoddy. The lack of connection she has to Matthew, after so long of wanting to be a mum, is one of the worst examples of this. I don't care one bit for this affair with Vincent. Claudette is about the only remotely interesting part of the storyline.

It is just depressing that they're ruining what was one of the show's best characters. The last week is perhaps the first time I actually disliked the character. Which is a massive deal, as I've always liked her before this. This is in contrast to others like Ian or Sharon, who I often switch between liking and disliking depending on their behaviour.

Until the writing improves for Ronnie, I'm afraid that I'll find it much harder to sympathise with her. IMO Shabnam could replace her as EE's main tragic heroine.

The Ronnie/Charlie relationship has been a real weak link in EastEnders since they out of the blue decided they were madly in love.

It was plodding along nicely them getting to know each other after Ronnie's surprise pregnancy then suddenly it was the greatest love affair of our time and it just didn't wash.

Now TPTB have suddenly had a change of heart; Charlie suddenly is boring and they're not in love. Very frustrating as I think he had such potential.

I've always had great sympathy for Ronnie but not anymore, I hope Charlie takes Matthew with him!

Ronnie could've been better off if her return was in July 2014 instead of September 2013

Hasn't she been a cold, detached character for years? It's certainly very weird that she couldn't seem to care less about the baby, though, despite claiming he's the most important person in her life. Surely if anyone outside herself is it'd be Roxy.

It is very weird! One minute they are a really strong and solid couple and the next she's chucking him out!

Would of been interesting to see them work at the marriage and become a strong couple again.
It doesn't seem like they've bee married 5 minutes with ronnie's coma

They should never have got roxy and Charlie to sleep together, that was the beginning of the end for him sadly

The thing that is really bothering me about her bonding with Matthew is the writing which has really let it down. We haven't really seen her with the child and so it gives the impression of her not caring. If that is the case it would have been much more interesting to go down the route of showing her not being able to bond with the child that she probably thought would be her route to happiness.

The person really bothering me is Roxy. Surely she knows how important having a baby was to Ronnie and as her sister she should be concerned if Ronnie is showing no maternal feelings towards the child. Instead it seems like she is going to help Charlie take him away instead of trying to see what the issue is. Even if Ronnie would not be receptive to her help she has never even been shown to have tried.

I think the minute that Charlie slept with Roxy, him and Ronnie needed to be finished. She was harsh in the way she ended it but the writing for all of them has been very half hearted and no one is coming out of it looking good.

I was thinking about Amy in all of this and it really highlights how messed up they all are and how they probably all need to take a step back. Her mother and Auntie live together and fight constantly. Six months ago they both seemed to have stable men around her a lot and where all happy with Alex even moving in with his kid who surely She would have bonded with. Then he abruptly disappears around the same time Ronnie was in hospital for months and Charlie and the baby move in and become a family with her and her mum before his actual wife and her auntie comes home and I genuinely wonder what she thinks about everything.

After all that's happened you can't blame her, before Matthew was born she had no reason to live. I think she wants to believe Matthew is the most important thing in her life but I think she hasn't bonded with him as much as she has liked having missed so much of his early days. Maybe Charlie taking Matthew will wake her up?

It was weird seeing Ronnie happy in the autumn before Nick turned up but happiness and Ronnie never go together when DTC is in charge of scripts!!

Unless there is a twist soon. Besides, Ronnie is portrayed as being a heartless, cold blooded killer and control freak. Why it would be any different now?

She had a severe traumatic head injury which can alter personality and change a person quite dramatically

I don't see any difference in her, she was always a nasty control freak and selfish. Never liked the character.

They've turned Ron into a selfish bore. Much better to develop her into a psycho earth mother which I hope they will.

Ronnie always had issues, but she's been a cold-hearted bitch ever since she returned in 2013. Remember the way she turfed the Moons out of the Vic? Stealing their baby wasn't enough, she had to make them homeless too.

I've never understood why people still have time for her. She's even worse than Kat Moon.

I've never liked character and been baffled by her much loved status on here. Personally I like Roxie more. Good awful choice of men but there are plenty of women like her. Roxie and Charlie worked far better than Ronnie and Charlie in my view.

How much longer will Ronnie and Roxy be in EE for?

Bit off topic but does anyone know why its always Ronnie Mitchell in the credits and not Ronnie Cotton? Or was it mentioned that she not take Charlie's name?
The_abbott

Probably because DTC knew that Charlie was going to have an affair with Roxy and wouldn't be around for much longer!

I dint think she took the Cotton name ?

She was so desperate to be a mother, now that she has a child of her own she hasn't really attempted to bond with Matthew. She rather spend all her time obsessing over Roxy/Deano, she missed out on having a day out with Matthew to go and get herself involved in Phil's business.
I agree she is dead inside, I don't think she'll ever be truly happy and she will carry on walking around like she's sucked a lemon.
