Going back to James' bread thing, I agree. When I was at uni and didn't know my HM well (in the first month), I used to always freeze my bread because I couldn't get through it all. If I didn't freeze it i'd probably need to chuck a bit of it away if it went mouldy.
As time went on, we ended up sharing the bread so it went more quickly.
