Around this time last year there was so much hype but now it feels like it's pretty much forgotten about.

I remembered it today and almost thought I had dreamed it.

Isn't it coming up to a year since it all happened very soon? I remember Linda mentioning it and Mick worrying about how Linda will be around that time. Maybe there'll be a mention then.

I though perhaps there might have been a scene where it was mentioned coming up to the anniversary, but I think onscreen, Phil and Shirley sort of moved on from it when she returned last Nov and they spoke about it outside the cafe. Phil joked about it with her during Stan's last days, so I can only assume that they have dealt with it?

It was forgotten within weeks. Phil got out of hospital having made an automatic recovery.

All people in soaps make an automatic recovery like HO and Jason falling down that cliff and now just over a month later (please quote me if I'm wrong on the timeline) hes running around again fit as a fiddle like it didn't happen at all with no check ups or physio sessions

Shirley is DTC's god. She could shoot everyone in the vic and still be seen as the victim.

It wasn't really a scratch as he was in a bad way and he could have died. God knows how he had a miraculous recovery. Shirley didn't even hand herself in to the police and she committed a big crime.

The gun went off by accident and the Mitchells didn't report it as they knew they would be in trouble too. Shirley could hand herself in but it would be bad news for the Mitchells.

I never understand this, he loves many characters. Why is Shirley singled out? Shirley deserves her place just as much as Kathy. Sharon, Jane ect..

Well of course you would say that but are we sure it was an accident? She also pointed it at Phil/Sharon from the Vic window.

It isn't a fact. (Shirley being my fave is fact ) Casting her family doesn't mean she has preferential treatment. He adores Sharon, Kathy, Linda ect...he constantly tweets about them but never about Shirley. All he did was cast her family, what's wrong with that? Everyone else has a family. This whole 'so and so' is DTC's favorite argument is just so juvenile, IMO. I think DTC has lots of favourite characters.

Rant over.

Ok Shirley is one of his favourite characters . He spoke highly of Linda Henry in his interviews and made Shirley a stronger character. Apart from her being a pathetic lovesick puppy, Shirley has been improved and I say this as someone is not too fond of her. Yeah Shirley is vile most of the time but she does display vulnerable moments and she is a great soap character. They gave Shirley a big family and that's proof that he really loves her. He used Shirley a lot which is fair and he does favourite tweets about her

Yup I'm sure as we saw a struggle then heard the gun go off. She didn't pull the trigger in the window scene or in the house before the struggle. If she was set on doing it she would've done it when she had a clear shot for maximum impact.

Exactly, one of his favourites. I never understand why Shirley is constantly singled out. I didn't meant to bite, I just remember all the heated debates on that subject last year and it's like a red alert. Lol.

Has there ever been a soap character who has caused such a reaction than Shirley? Good or bad she is definitely talked about, a lot. She is a great soap character. I think they can write Shirley as doing things that other characters couldn't quite get away with because of her nature, same with Phil.

DTC rates Shirley and Linda Henry (quite rightly so) but she isn't the only one he thinks highly of.

Shirley has been a lot stronger, and I'm pleased. She needs to find out about Dean though.

We did, when Sharon grappled with Shirley, the gun fired. We don't know if Shirley would have actually gone through with or not, but as it stands it did go off in the grapple. I think it was more the threat than anything or she would have done it earlier, or when she was pointing it out of the window. (That was a good doof doof)

The struggle only happened because Shirley was pointing the gun directly at Phil's head and started to move closer to him. She was about to shoot him, and Sharon tried to stop her.

It's all on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MORV...efSBuoroCwGkOw

The gun went off in the struggle, but had Shirley not been carrying a loaded gun around *nobody* would have been shot. It was not an accident.

Well, either way, Phil got shot, survived and moved on. I don't know why people are so adamant that Shirley should be punished when there are murderers walking about the square unpunished and Phil has done a lot of undesirable things. It does make me chuckle. Shirley's actions do get people talking, don't they?!

And if some idiot hadn't left a loaded gun around there would have been no gun, and no bullet, for a drunk to get her hands on. Let's face it, it could just as easily been a child that got hold of the weapon...I have a feeling that Denny wouldn't have missed.
