"And if the manufacturer had never made the gun..." etc etc.

Blaming anyone but Shirley for Phil being shot is idiotic. She was holding the gun!

As President of the Den III Appreciation Society I really must protest. And Ronnie was having a bad year.

guns in the wrong hands are dangerous...that's why there are gun laws. There's nothing wrong with manufacturing guns, but they shouldn't just be left lying around. Shirley must take some blame, but so should all involved.

I agree that hiding the gun was stupid and incredibly irresponsible. But Shirley deserves sole blame for Phil being shot, nobody else.

If you say so.

Exactly. She's the one who pointed it at him and pulled the trigger. She's lucky the police didn't show up sooner or she'd be banged up for attempted murder.

I'd like to think the point of that storyline was to draw a line under their relationship. With Sharon and Kathy on the square at the same time I really can't imagine the writers going back to the toxic trainwreck that was Phirley.

She is to blame, she took the gun with bad intentions.

Let's hope for the good of mankind or soap fandom he doesn't

Shirley suits Buster way better, get rid of Dean and they could build the Carters up more solidly. .

I agree. Shirley was criminally underused for years in any case.

Phil is made of Teflon and bullets just bounce off him. No big deal.

Didn't the gun belong to Ronnie or the Mitchells in someway? Hence why they didn't report it as they'd incriminate themselves

I found the whole thing laughable. I mean the police raided the house and they didn't even suspect Shirley. In the real world, Shirley would have been arrested and sent to jail for at least 10 years if she was a real life person. The police would have known via the locals that Shirley sabotaged their wedding day and would have assumed Shirley shot Phil. The police would had Shirley's fingerprints on Sharon's wedding dress and they would definitely have her fingerprints in the lounge.

The bullets alter their molecular structure out of respect for Big Bad Philth because they are so terrified of what he might do to them if they harm him.

Ronnie had it in the first place after killing Carl because she wanted to protect herself from other dangerous men. Just before she left after we found out she was pregnant, she leaves and Phil was supposed to get rid of it but Sharon found it and kept hold of it, feeling vulnerable after the attack at The Albert. Somehow it ends up at The Vic on Sharon and Phil's wedding day (hidden in a make up bag, I think?) and Shirley finds it. And yeah, Ronnie orders Ben and Jay to dispose of the gun after Phil was shot because of the Mitchell's involvement.
