I've only just caught up on the last few eps so this is a little bit late, but yeah.
What exactly was Andrea meant to do? If she had the baby without telling Lloyd that's deemed to be awful, if she had an abortion that's deemed to be awful, and if she told him she's pregnant she's "trapping him," which, you've guessed it, is deemed to be awful. I don't see what other options there are? I'm not a fan of the character or storyline but this really seems like misogyny to me. The other characters seem to be blaming her for getting pregnant, as if she were the only one involved. Not to mention the inevitable "it is his baby, isn't it?" stuff. Wtf.
Also, who do Steve, Michelle, Eileen and Michael think they are? They seemed to think it's up to them to decide whether Andrea's allowed to speak to Lloyd ever again, nevermind anything else. Yes obviously they care about Liz and don't want her to be hurt, but the way they were so hostile to Andrea and seemed to think she needs their permission to ever mention Lloyd's name is really pretty weird. Very annoying to watch. Steve was making some questionable comments about liasing with the mother of one's child, too.
Liz should also have known better than to get (apparently seriously) involved with someone the instant they split up with someone else. Anyone should know better than to do that, frankly. Not only might they end up getting back together with the other person but it's not exactly healthy to jump straight into a new relationship with no time to get over the old one.

To be fair I found the whole thing ridiculously contrived. Lloyd dumps Andrea for selling his record??? The whole street labels her a thief and a liar?!

She made a desperate mistake, she’s hardly Tracy frigging Barlow! Then she is ostracised and forced to leave for her HEINOUS crime, and when she returns pregnant she is once again deemed some evil schemer just out to trap Lloyd?! Now she’s got a job in Jersey (where they will inevitably leave for) yet within a few months of starting said job, she will need to take maternity leave! It’s hardly a well thought out story, and it’s ridiculous twists do nothing but anger me!

It is a good question and also a great answer that gets to the point as well.

Can't see any reason for the way Andrea has been treated so shabbily, particularly by Steve for some reason, I don't know why but I would have expected a little bit more understanding from him toward the woman. Maybe because he himself has acted in a similar way, when he was taking money from the pub? Oh but maybe he reckons that that was different, that he had some kind of excuse because he was out of his friggin mind at the time, lol. Of course it's not like Andrea could have been depressed when she sold Lloyd's crappy record, because Steve was in possession of that ailment at the time wasn't he?
And Michael couldn't identify with her plight, after all it's not as if he ever tried to burgle someone's house before is it? lol. And Eileen never ever stole from her employer did she? Rolleyes. There a rotten shower of reeking hypocrites the lot of them. They all can't want to start picking on someone.
Didn't believe the Liz/Lloyd crap for a moment, Liz isn't bothered who the bloke is, only that he's in a hurry to get up the stairs with her.
It's a load of absolute shite the whole thing.
Also I can't stand how they all gang up on people and pillory them like a mindless mob all the time. It's not as though any of the inhabitants of the street have a moral backbone or an ounce of virtue among them.
Of course Andrea shouldn't have stolen from Lloyd but you know what, she regretted it immediately. And she loves him. Though God knows, I don't know how it's possible she could love such a mean spirited and petty little man. He couldn't have forgiven her before now?

If Lloyd really loved Andrea liked he claimed, then why the hell didn't he try to figure out why she stole his record. You would think she'd had an affair and that she didn't really care for him. There's no togetherness.

Exactly. I’m not being funny but it was incredibly selfish of Lloyd to exonerate all responsibility of assisting Andrea, and her daughter. She was clearly in a state and because of their strained relationship felt obliged to help Jess, even more so because her father Neil was not contactable, so the only person Jess could turn to, was Andrea. Despite everything Lloyd basically said ‘not my problem, she’s a grown up, let her sort it herself’. Hmmmmm bit hypocritical after he went running to Spain to get Jenna out of a prison sentence for alleged fraud!

I don’t agree with Andrea stealing from Lloyd, but in a relationship you share the burden and he was unwilling to help Andrea, which I find incredibly selfish. My partner has a brother who has fallen on hard times and whilst he does his best to get by, there are times he needs a bit of financial assistance, it’s never very much and I know he feels terrible ever having to ask us, but we help wherever we can, because family and friends should be able to rely on each other in times of desperation. God knows I’ve turned to my parents for money when I haven’t been able to cope with an unexpected turn of events, I always paid it back and thanked them wholeheartedly. If Lloyd loved Andrea the way he makes out he does, he wouldn’t have been able to see her flesh and blood out on the streets, in a foreign country, especially as it was a position she found herself in through no fault of her own.

I also found Steve’s treatment of Andrea to be a bit unrealistic, she is essentially his friend, one who, at one time, he was very fond of, yet all of a sudden she’s some evil money grabbing harlot who can’t be trusted??! Come on.

I am so not going to miss this tedious character and her distracting mole.

Lloyd really can't be much of a partner if he couldn't care less about the child of the person he supposedly loves facing the prospect of being homeless in another country with no one to turn to. Well nevermind partner, he can't be much of a human being.

Apparently the two characters couldn't just move away naturally together for a new life, we needed this whole contrived conflict. And how many more times is Steve just going to so happen to walk through the door of the cab office and overhear a secret, and of course will not know whether or not to tell anyone in fear of being hen-pecked by his mother. Yaaaaawn.

But it wasn't just the record. Lloyd clearly said that it was because she'd lied "again" , which I took as a reference to the fact she was married without telling him for ages when they were first dating.

I completely agree OP, Andrea is not a favorite of mine by a long stretch but Steve and the others seemed to be quite judgmental of her situation. I though Lloyd had an over reaction to the record anyway after all that he and Andrea went through with the Neil stuff in the early stages of their relationship. Also I think the massive SOR that Andrea 'took out a loan' or something along those lines to buy back the record so why she couldnt pay Jess in the first place deserves a mention?

And as for Liz making out that shes suffered the ultimate betrayal and everybody should beg for forgiveness at her feet because Lloyd chose to make a go of things with his pregnant long term girlfriend, as if she wont be taking someone else through the back by next week.

This whole storyline has been pointless. We've never met Andrea's daughter (missed opportunity to give her a background and some depth) so it's hard to care about her plight. Lloyd is a shallow idiot obsessed with his records and it's out of character for Andrea to steal. And what's the point of breaking them up just to reunite them a few weeks later? Liz seems pretty fine about it all, so there's no big heartbreak there. It's just a poor filler storyline in between the dross they are writing around their blue eyed (not remotely) bad boy Callum.

It did seem completely pointless that we knew weeks in advance yet they set up the whole will they wont they thing with Liz? Its not even as if Liz needed something to do, shes already been heavily involved in all the Dan and Tony stuff. Wtf was the point of this SL?

I know it might sound boring, but I'd actually have preferred for a very simple exit for both.

Andrea's husband agrees to a divorce and as a payout, lets her take the house. She finds out she's preggers and she and Lloyd move into the house to raise their child as a proper family, they would still be nearby to come back for special occasions and there would be no need for all this pointless contrived rubbish just to fill some scenes!!

Now they are apparently moving to Jersey for a pregnant Andrea to take up a new job, despite the fact that by the time she's trained to do it, she'll be going off on maternity leave!

I agree, a pointless story. it seems that ever since Andrea came in to Corrie, the writers have been struggling for a story to give her. But, Lloyd and Andrea's story becomes Shakesperian alongside the ridiculous fleshy-mouthed 'gangster' Callum story.
Another point; for Andrea to take a job with a small firm, knowing she is pregnant and will soon be entitled to maternity leave, is disgraceful.

Agreed, I've mentioned this also, she has either declared her pregnancy to her new boss, and they have ok'd the mat leave (highly unlikely), or she is being deceptive.

I feel a bit sorry for Andrea going off with Lloyd, although I don't like her much. He's such a whinger and very judgemental. I can imagine in any row they have in future Lloyd will be saying - How can I trust you, You let me down - blah blah blah. Andrea would have been better off as a single parent.

Maybe she told the employer & they're OK with it, unlikely but possible. Or maybe Llyod is going to be a stay at home dad & Andrea will only have a short amount of time off. She probably didn't even know she was pregnant when she applied & I don't think she'd have any legal requirement to tell them until she gets to a certain stage.

Its another situation where a woman can't win. If she doesn't tell the employer she's dishonest. If she does they will probably change their mind, she doesn't have a job & gets labeled a scrounger for being on benefits or mooching off Llyod. And thats before she even has the kid, once its born if she's a stay at home mum she's lazy & a scrounger, if she works F/T why did she bother having a kid she never sees & if she works P/T she gets flak from both sides!

I don't know why people don't like Andrea. I like the character and the actress both. She always seems so cheerful.

I just find both Andrea and Lloyd really dreary. I'll be glad when they're both gone. I haven't found any of their scenes or stories anything other than dull.

100% agree. The fact these two will be one of the main LIVE ep storylines is like putting a leaking hose all the way throughout the episode and left to drip. Its that interesting.
