It's too early for me to know whether, for me, he's a brilliant addition to the cast or not, but his first scenes haven't grated in the way that Sarah Harding's did. That said, he has had a much softer introduction than Sarah's character so it's easier to settle in. I agree with the poster above who thinks there might well be more to the relationship with Cathy. I think she will become more interesting with some family around her, although I'm still not keen on the idea of a romance with Roy.

I don’t agree that the actor is great, I still think he’s finding his feet, some of his lines sounded forced and unrehearsed and whilst I commend him for his efforts, I still think he can improve.

That said, it is not his acting that I take issue with at all, it’s the hurried nature in which the writers wanted to introduce the character as being so ‘cool’. I fully understand that there are young lads like Alex out there, with a cheeky persona and a witty repartee, who go drinking and enjoy sexual relationships, what I object to is the way that is was all laid out in the first five minutes to hammer it home to us viewers. It was as subtle as a sledgehammer.

I think he's brilliant. Loved his interaction with Roy! Classic Corrie.

I too loved the scenes with Alex and Roy, there seemed to be a warmness between them. Roy is a great character and I'm looking forward to how this story pans out.

I said the same thing.

Isn't David Neilsons wife a special needs teacher ?
Maybe he has had many dealings in this field because of her so feels comfortable...or maybe he's just a lovely friendly bloke.

Either way, they have a warmth between them.
