Tattoo Fixers: E4
Has anyone watched this?
Late night on E4? Pretty interesting programme, and the tattoo artists are very good. Amazes me though how they cover up/fix a tattoo with one that's 10 to 20 times the size. ![]() But what is the point of 'Paisley' the receptionist? She is rather annoying actually. Tries to be this sassy and confident, but just comes across as gobby and unprofessional; shouting 'OY!' to the three tattoo artists when a customer comes in. Lou (the female tattoo artist) is beautiful. I am not a fan of tats personally, but there are people who suit them OK, and she is one. Beck from big brother (from Luke and Beck) was on it the other week; Jeeez she thinks she is something!

TV seems to have an obsession with tattoos at the moment...

They don't need a receptionist because it's not a real shop, box-ticking exercise if you ask me.
The female tattooist is pretty but the tattoos on her neck are awful, and she has strange scars on her cheeks, like she's had cheek piercings if there is such a thing. Not a fan of the tattoos done by Sketch but Jay's portrait tattoos are brilliant, reckon he must charge a grand or two for them in real life. |

Sketch is crap.
Lou is gorgeous, even with the tats etc. hardly surprising when the guys opt to have her attention for the duration of the work. If you're watching a tattoo show, I find it odd that the tattoos would be a put-off. Jay seems like a great guy, and is probably the best tattooist of the three. Paisley is ridiculously cute, not sure where the annoying factor is? And as for box ticking, I'd suggest that the suggestion is actually some kind of box-ticking exercise... but hey ho! |

I appreciate the skill, some superfan had an image of the artist formerly known as Cheryl Tweedy put on her back. One of her album covers and it was/is a fantastic piece of work and a refreshing change from flowers and dragons. Each to their own and all that. Pub |

IMO Paisley just doesn't seem to 'fit' with the other 3, and seems very out of place. The conversations between her and the others seem forced somehow. I don't think she and Lou have a single thing in common, and I can sense the air of awkwardness between them when they're alone. And Lou is NOT impressed with her gobby "OY!" when she summons the other 3. Last time she said it, Lou said 'we have GOT to get you a bell to ring to attract our attention!' And she didn't look particularly happy. Paisley hasn't even got any tats herself. She just shouldn't be there IMO. She brings nothing to the show at all... And I don't understand the comment, if you're not keen on tats why watch? I am not getting a tattoo am I? I am just watching a programme about them; so that comment makes no sense to me.Quote:

His Cheryl Cole tat was amazing. Quote:

Cute is not a word I would attribute to Paisley. IMO, she is annoying and gobby and common. I mean who the F would shout "OY !!!" to summon the bosses? I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually got rid of her. There's being confident and then there's being a common gobby chav which is how she comes across (to me.) Lou is so much more classy and ladylike.

It's presumably C4's own version of Tattoos After Dark but it comes across as very forced and scripted in comparison.

It sometimes has sketches, which annoys me. I also have to wonder how many people just go to a tattoo parlour and choose between 3 tattoos? None of the customers ever take in a picture of something they want. I know that some people are daft when it comes to tats, but most of them get a pretty large tattoo of something they picked from a very limited selection.

I don't get why the covers seem to be so much bigger than the tattoos they're covering either.
Sketch's tattoos seem better this series though. |

I wouldn't have a tat myself but can appreciate the art and skill that goes into so that why I watch but it does annoy me that they always tend to do such big tats to cover such a small one, it's not necessary.

Probably part of the deal to get a free cover-up tattoo done. I assume the participants don't pay for the work. It does seem strange to me, though, that most of the designs are so huge, just to cover a small crappy original tattoo!

Why does someone come in with a piece of writing that you could fit on a 50 pence piece, or a stick man you could fit on a postage stamp, and have a cover-up that's 20 times bigger than the tiny tattoo they had? Literally, a tattoo the size of their thumb, is covered up by a tattoo half the size of their arm! And what is this obsession with saying TA-OO. It's TATT-OO. 4 out of 5 people who appear on this show (including Jay and Sketch,) pronounce it TA-OO. They don't pronounce the T's in the middle of the word! And although I do enjoy the show most of the time, I am still trying to fathom the point of Paisley! ![]() I find her so annoying. |

That tiny crown is very silly.
Can't understand how Sketch's tattoos have improved so much from the last series though. EDIT: Don't like the Terminator one though. |

I was about to post something about this, after watching it the other night. And I have wondered it before too.

The US one spends a lot more time showing how they come up with the design before the client is even in the room, and it's never just a quick 2 minute sketch, with only 3 customers per episode, one for each artist. The UK one shows more customers per show, with a lot less time spent on the actual tattooing. But, the US one fills in with horrible re-enactments of the stories behind how they got the first tattoo, and they get more ridiculous each series. |

It is scripted reality, the tattoos are real. Cover ups will be free and they lose the original, no doubt it was advertised somewhere and it does show the human side of tattoos.
It does give an opportunity to see some art being created professionally. I am not a fan of permanent skin disfigurement - but I can see the artistic merit. |

The receptionist this series wears a massive gold necklace that you'd think would be heavy enough to pin her to the ground if only it was real
