Is Lauren Branning the character suited to being a mum

It was slightly ambiguous when she left but we knew she was returning as pregnant.

However what I have always liked about Lauren is she has always been a very much stand alone character and she has always dealt with her own issues mainly.

She is still head and shoulders above the other younger characters as she seems to have developed a screen presence that most of the others don't have.

It's obviously an eastenders rule that younger females get pregnant but she is not a character you ever really saw being a parent.

She's grown into a lovely girl. She has a good head and heart so she'll be fine.

She brightened up EE tonight. She's grown into a good little actress. The contrast between Lauren and Cora and Sharon and Gillian in terms of quality was so evident as they switched between scenes.

No. Why does every young good character have to have a baby!? It completely brings the characters down like a giant albatross chucked around their necks. Stacey with Lily is actually okay but then they have to ruin it by throwing another one at her and basically making her the new Kat/Bianca with a brood of kids which will obviously just lead to her having an endless cycle of 'mum' storylines about her providing for her children. I absolutely love the show but this is my biggest criticism! Why can't they have a young successful female that isn't dragged down by a baby by their very early 20's? Even Janine succumbed to the worst narrative block by the end.

Yes, she was the only bright light tonight.

To be honest another unnecessary pregnancy from DTC, tying young Lauren to a baby is just not needed in my view. I also think characters in their teens and twenties should only be having babies sporadically, they have way more options when young, free and single than they do with kids.
