I really don't like that enforced, expected mawkish stuff. Austin needs to back off.

At the same time, Chloe is ridiculous with the amount of crying and nonsense. Very immature and insecure person.

Exactly I wouldn't have raised a glass either

Austin really going for the sympathy vote, not realise that us British scoff at such nonsense.

Completely agree. That was a personal family issue for Austin only, and not something to demand the entire house take part in, to the point where the ONE person who was not there is attacked as if she had been a close relative who ignored the moment.

Austin has been against Chloe from the beginning. Chloe is a sweet girl, i feel for her.

Exactly. It should have been optional. Those that wanted to go attend. Those that didn't, well it's up to them. Like you say, they didn't know his brother.

I agree. He is soooo self-absorbed. His brother is nothing to do with Chloe; she neer met him, and him demanding that she raise a glass to him is ridiculous.

I think he was fair. If someone couldn't mark my brothers' passing because they couldn't be in the same room as alcohol, fair enough. But then if they sprinted towards a fridge full of the stuff, I'd be a bit annoyed. It's irrelevant if she knew his brother, she knows him, they are all in their separated from the people they love & it was probably a bit of a kick in the teeth for him.

He's been the same with Janice and Farrah. He is not a pleasant man and had he been a woman he would be slagged off for his behaviour

Austin doesn't seem to like any women - even with Gail he just used her to shave his head for 'his moment'.

Have to absolutely agree with you on that. Exactly what I just said to my daughter just now about it.

Doesn't matter what you think of Austin or whether he is fake or not, as a mark of respect it would have hurt her not a jot to attend that memorial for a few minutes.

Who cares if she didn't know him? Having respect is basic common decency.

i like Austin but he really needs to learn how to speak to people in a more calm manner.

It should have no effect on him whatsoever. What Chloe does or doesn't do is none of his business.

They're living together in a house. They're part of a community, such as it is. It just showed a lack of respect. If I were in there and she did that, I'd feel hurt by it.

Chloe may have had her own personal reasons to not want to do it and used the alcohol as an excuse. Austin should not have had a go at her about it - it was not compulsory and she did not have to explain herself to him

They're just living together in a house. None of them have any right to have any expectations of the other people.

Exactly so.
Who the hell does he think he is that he can demand people join in his maudlin?
He's lucky she's such a sensitive soul anyone else might have told the big drama queen to put a sock in it. I bet he wouldn't have said it to someone who could shout louder than him.

I understand where Austin was coming from but that reaction was a bit much.

Fair enough, your disappointed in her, but you sure did waste a lot of energy on conveying your disappointment

It was naive game play by her, she gave him the ammo then pulled the trigger herself.

Being addicted to drink isnt something most bods have empathy for. I see as a mental illness and oh boy only suffers can/do feel for sufferers.

You're right, it's not law or mandatory for anyone to do something like that. It's just common courtesy and about treating others how you would like to be treated in the same situation.

Every so often at work someone leaves or goes on maternity leave. You sign the card, put a pound in the collection pot and then spend 15 minutes of your own time sitting around eating a bit of cake as you wish them well. This may be a person that you only have a conversation with once a month, but you're part of that community. As sickening mushy as it sounds, you create a support system and a environment based on respect and care. I don't have to do it. I could just sit in my room, but most people prefer to give up a little of their time to do something for someone else.
