iPhone/downloads over 100mb on cellular
Something weird happened this evening, I had 2 App Store updates, one at 20-30mb and the other Barclays app was over 100mb, so I got the message saying connect to wifi to update so I clicked to update the other app and left the other as I was busy. Now I just checked the App Store again and it appears to have downloaded the 106mb update on its own without being connected to wifi, instead of saying "update" it just says "open", so it's done isn't it? But how? I did not connect it to wifi, I didn't even use the phone all evening!
Not complaining at all, just wondered how it downloaded when the App Store has a 100mb limit on cellular? Answers on a postcard. |

I also noticed this with a few apps today, one update was over 400MB and still updated, despite the warning. I really hope this restriction does not return, there should be an option to disable it with unlimited plans!
I'm currently using IOS 9.1 Beta, I'm not sure if its related though. |

In the past I've noticed this happening but think it's related to delta app updates i.e. where only the changed parts of the app are downloaded. I think it shows the full app size but only downloads the changes, meaning the changes can be under the 100mb limit.
I could be completely wrong, but this is what I've assumed has happened in the past for me anyway. |
