The last few weeks have been great with some great acting and so many storylines going on like Max and seeing if he is going to be found Guilty or whether everyone is going to find out that Bobby was the killer and finally i cant wait for Ian and Ben to find out that Kathy is still That episode is going to be great

Really can't agree with that.
I won't comment on the storylines because I'm not a regular viewer but I've dipped in and out a bit over the last couple of weeks and can't believe they've manipulated it so much of the drama revolves around two of the most wooden, cliched, unconvincing actors on tv.
Sharon and Kathy are just cringelingly awful.
On the other hand, Jane is very believable and doing a great job.

Absolutely opposite lol
Jane can't act. Not in crying scenes etc. she's good as day to day woman of the world though

Sharon, Kathy and Phil are 3 of the best characters the show ever created. Once Ian comes back and he and Ben find out the truth it's going to get even better. I'm loving the Jane/Marcus Christie plot and Lauren's return to save Max also. I was bored out of my skull by EastEnders last year and a good deal of this year. It's nice to be gripped by characters I care about for a change.
Hit and miss. You give The Brannings/Beales/Mitchells and a couple of others something todo and it's great.
When it's the Carters and to an extend The Masoods it can be dull to watch.
EastEnders has been better. We have seen a glimpse of Old EastEnders this year. It has been worse also.

It very average atm nothing good or nothing special. Some scenes with unlikeable characters can be draining and dull to watch.
It's tedious and frustrating.

Crying is always difficult to get right for actors so I wouldn't really use it as a measure of someone's acting skills.
The show has a good cast and some fantastic writers but the pacing of storylines lets it down.
It's been good at times recently but very patchy and inconsistent. Some stuff's been utterly terrible, like Stacey/Kush/Martin.

So what's the problem?
It's good at the moment, but the quality is inconsistent. It's almost like watching two different shows. The Beales and Mitchells have been on form this year, and when the focus has been on Ian/Sharon/Jane/Phil/Kathy in particular the quality has shot through the roof. The Sharon vs Kathy stuff on Monday was outstanding; some of the best I've seen on EastEnders for years.
On the other hand, I find the Cokers and Hubbards mind numbingly dull.
I appreciate what DTC has done by introducing the Carters, and trying to breathe new life into the show. But I just haven't found them as interesting as some of the older faces, and I find my attention wandering when the show becomes solely about the Carters. I think they work very well with light-hearted stories and comic relief, but they just can't pull off big, dramatic plots. They should stick what what works when it comes to the Carters, and not shove them down everybody's throats until we like them.

Sharon has been well and truly saved from the shadow of a character she was a few years back.
After a lacklustre summer, Enders has hit the ground running with great stories and performance.

I agree. I have watched since day 1 and the older characters are what keep me watching. I'd have Cindy, Angie and Mark back too if I could!!! 2011-2013 EE was unwatchable!!! so it is heading in the right direction.
I don't 'hate' new characters but none of them recently can keep my attention or make an emotional connection with. I disagree with the OP that the show is in the form of its life - it has some strong characters from all eras but the pieces are not all coming together for me. I can take Kush and Carmel but I don't like any of the Carters. Especially Lee.
I still like Ronnie and I am sure there is more going on there then simply an affair with Vincent. I think there is a power play going on. Will we see the Mitchells finally toppled? Personally I always feel when the Mitchells and Beales are at the top you can't go wrong so if the Hubbards start ruling the square hopefully it won't be for very long!!!

And meanwhile we have a return from the dead, which could yet be OK, but the jury's out on that. Maybe there Are storylines but Eastenders doesn't want to give much away.

Too contrived for me. They are entering Brookside territory with this Lucy aftermath / Kathy return. It's got to point that disengaging brain is a pre requisite for watching. How much longer I will bother I don't know. Much better stuff out there.

There are a few others though: Lees depression looks set to get worse, especially now that he feels he's let down his father; a custody battle between Ronnie and Charlie; stacey and who's the daddy of course. And I would bet the Linda and Dean fiasco will resurface soon.
I'll be saying this until Alex Lamb leaves, but until they get a new story producer and stop all this storyblocking then the inconsistency will go and it will feel like we're watching one cohesive show. There's only been moments this year that have been Great, not a continuous period unfortunately but DTC is doing his best to revert the damage BK did. I'm hoping by end of 2016 the show will be back to form, shows usually take 5 years of surgery if it's brought to that much of a rock-bottom

The trouble is that I don't care who gets the baby....they have made them both so unlikable. Stacey didn't sleep with Kush, so no drama there. And Lee's story only crops up for a few minutes here and there. As for Dean, just kill him already.
