The moment we've been waiting for has arrived. It is indeed today that IOS 9 comes out

But what is the feature you're most looking forward to?

This update should see a smoother, snappier and more personal feel across the OS. This, however, remains to be seen in real terms.

A quick look at the most important parts of what makes iOS 9.. iOS 9:

News App
More customisable Notes App
Better Maps Features
New and Improved Apple Wallet (Passbook)
An Official iCloud Drive App Finally Arriving
Smarter Siri
Smarter Search
Better battery life
Smaller OS Size

I won't say its the biggest update ever.. But I won't say no to accepting it

Its not here yet, but will be from 6pm tonight.

A good roundup of each device and its feature compatibility and expected performance with iOS9 here.

I had up to beta 5, don't expect a smoother feel unless they have built that in to the GM version.

The latest beta I was using was still a little buggy and laggy at times. Hopefully they have sorted all that for release version.

I hope so but those in the know (over at macrumors) say that there is often very little different between the last beta and the release version. We will know in about 9 hours.

I think that the new hardware (RAM and A9) will have a massive positive impact on performance that ios9 will take advantage of.

I put the 9.1 beta instead on my iPad 3. It is a hell of a lot smoother than the 9 betas were

I just hope the 'shuffle all' feature has been restored to the music app

I'll probably wait a few hours before kicking off the update as the servers will be creaking at 6pm.

I'm currently running the 9.1 beta and i've no complaints.

A lot of people are probably expecting the News app and the new emoji (including the middle finger) to be on 9.0 but they wasn't in the GM version so i doubt they'll be in the official release , which is usually the same build number as the GM.

The above are in 9.1 though.

Sorry to ask a bit of a stupid question but on my iPhone 6 I am currently running iOS 8.3 with the iOS 8.4.1 update ready to be downloaded and installed. If I wanted to update to iOS 9 tonight would I have to do the iOS 8.4.1 update first or will iOS 9 replace that one?

Am I right in thinking I lose continuity between my iPad 3 and iPhone 6?

Although come to think of it I don't think it's been working for a while. Goes to check....

Hmm the net suggests iPad 3 never supported Continuity, my iPad certainly used to support phone calling and instant hotspot and other features. I must be getting features confused.
