Was it ever referenced on-screen that the new walls (including walkways/steps) were being built in the village? Was any construction work actually shown on screen?
It seems like they came out of nowhere.

There was a brief mention that they'd been reopened, but I think we're meant to just assume they've always been there, just never used.

wasn't there meant to be a storyline of a body being hidden in the walls
