Again, just wanted to see the forum consensus on this matter. Who do you think was in the right? Do you Austin has the right to demand that everyone attend a memorial speech for his late brother or is Chloe well in her right not to participate? Does Austin have a right to be mad?

In my subjective opinion, I'm team Chloe on this one. Austin's situation while sad and tragedy isn't unique, most people have lost loved one prematurely. I feel that Austin being a control freak in this situation and is acting entitled. No-one is required participate another's mourning and grief. It's great that the other hm participated but Austin has a nerve demanding that everyone should have attended.

I agree with you, he was being an idiot here. It's really none of his business why Chloe wanted to stay in the bedroom.

I agree, his reaction was over the top.

Optional obviously but it would be considerate to participate.

My sentiments exactly. Of course, these things are always optional - unless you live in North Korea - but show a little respect (2 minutes would suffice).

Of course, but you have no right to go at someone if they don't want to attend especially if they didn't know him or have a personal relationship. It sounds like narcissistic entitlement. No-one is obliged to participate anyone else's grief or mourning.

Well not explicitly but if isn't a demand, why would he be even mad at her for not attending?

I think he was mad at her for not attending but it was kept in check until he saw her mucking about with alcohol when that was the reason for not attending - being around alcohol.

To be fair to Austin - who does use these instances to garner attention - I think I would have bought the "different days bringing different ways of dealing with your alcoholism" speech (as it''s a legitimate one) from anyone but Chloe.

The problem with fakers is that, even when they'rs telling the truth - nobody believes them.

He is overeacting but the issue is more to do with her excuses about being unable to be around alcohol.does she avoid stevi when hes been drinking i wonder ?

She had every right not to go outside and take part, and he had no right at all to scream at her for not taking part, or even question it. Who does he think he is? Drama queen. His sexual frustration due to the James situation is making him even more awful than usual

I think the edit makes him look bad BUT everyone in the kitchen seemed to agree he had a right to be pissed off (though Sherrie did try to get him to control the way he reacted).
So again we missed so much in the edit to explain what lead up to this.

BUT Chloe's explanations were weak and all over the place and I think that frustrated the situation and him because it was ridiculous. I can't be around alcohol, I can't be around open alcohol, I was having a really bad day and wanting a drink so I stayed away turned into Janice told me not to come turned into I didn't know turned into a whiney "someone should have come and dragged me out" etc......

That kind of sh*t would drive me nuts if I was trying to make a point because it's hard to argue and debate an issue when your opponent keeps moving the goalposts.

Alcohol has been a point of contention in that house with people rushing to the fridge to abscond with their private stash so to have Chloe do it after apparently snubbing Austin's toast must be extremely frustrating. It's not the first time she has done this, she was in there with Natasha in a dash when they wanted to get that red wine away from Jenna. And I think she'd also been into the American teams bread that day. She's a younger version of Janice, self centered and tries to hide that behind a ditzy persona.

It'll be funny to see how quickly BOTS turns Austin into a monster after making him a hero and applauding him regarding his dealings with Jenna and Farrah. Build 'em up and tear 'em down.

I voted compulsory because I think her excuse was BS and in that house I think it's compulsory to take part in these sorts of things. Part of the game really.

Hasn't he been a bit of shit to her from day one?

I think he's just using this as another stick to beat her with.

BIB @ i totally agree. But i do feel regardless of whether Chloe's excuse was valid or not, Austin had a nerve to come at like her that. Chloe doesn't owe him anything especially her time. When you put people in uncomfortable situations, sometimes they make up flimsy lies to get out of it.

Of course it's optional but I'm kind of with Austin on this one.

A little bit of consideration, compassion and respect for ones fellow man doesn't hurt anyone. It obviously meant a lot to Austin irregardless of whether it was 'right or wrong' of him to make such a public display of it.

And where on earth did this issue of Chloe being around alcohol come from anyway? She's been around it every bloody day in there
I just don't buy it.

So what if it means a lot to Austin. So he'd force people to go outside to raise their glass, just because it means a lot to him? If he was after a genuine toast as opposed to attention seeking and promoting an x factor style sob story, then he would have been happy to have even 1 person raise their glass so long as they meant it. Who cares what anyone else does.

In my view he was using it to have a go at Chloe because she irritates him generally.

Optional of course. Yes, the considerate thing to do would be to turn up out of respect, but at the same time, he's only known these people less than a month, so I don't think he should be so offended if one of them didn't want to take part.

Nobody should feel forced but I just think it's the respectful thing to do and imo I'd question the intentions of those refusing more than those of his own.
