Kat and Alfie spin off?
What happened to Kat and Alfie's spin off
I haven't heard anything about it in 6 months. I thought they were giving them a break specifically to film this but it's seems to have not happened |

I think it's only meant to be showing in the new year.

Weren't they spotted filming in Ireland at some point? The whole thing is very odd, sending a popular character off into oblivion with a potentially fatal illness. I'm guessing it may be postponed to fit in Shane and Jessie's play but not sure on dates.

As far as I'm'm aware Shane and Jessie met up with DTC earlier in the year to discuss the project as was mentioned in Inside Soap magazine but nothing has been mentioned since so whether it's still happening is a mystery.

I'm sure we will find out Alfie's fate as per his brain tumour whether there's a spin-off or not. |

I don't really mind whether the spinoff is still happening but I must meet Kat's son!!! Of all the slow burning stories they've started Kat's twins is the one I'm most excited by. I loved the convent episode and the big twist so I'd hate for them to just drop that. We need to find out if Alfie is going to live or die too. You can't just leave these threads hanging.
To be honest if dropping the spinoff meant bringing them back to EE sooner to finish off the stories I'd be pleased. I miss Kat a lot. |

If they have quietly dropped it, could we possibly get a Keeble/Marsden spin off? With Bryant and Ritchie making appearances too.

It was always said the spin off would commence filming in Autumn. Things have gone quiet because at the moment there isn't really anything to say.
I think the confusion has come from the deliberately misleading PR statements when Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie left EastEnders; the implication being they were simply taking time out to allow them to film their own show. This was clearly never case. They finished on EE in March, actors do not require six months preparation to shoot a drama series, Wallace and Richie have left EastEnders, not to film this, they've just left. There'll probably be news on the Kat and Alfie show within the next month. |

I don't think they are coming back to the main show (despite Shane's claims) but I hope they get a decent send off in the spinoff show.

I think there will be an announcement by the end of the year. Look at this way, when Andrew Sachs' guest role was first announced, it took months before his character was even confirmed. I remember there were some fears that his appearance would be cancelled.
They wouldn't give Kat that mystery son storyline and not follow it up. |

There has been a lack of talk about
Whenever it chooses to happen, it needs to happen soon. Both Shane and Jessie are doing panto which means rehearsals in november and then doing the actual panto all of december. Plus shane has the dad's army biopic to film, as well as a stage show tour with Jessie next spring. EDIT: Just looked on Shane ritchie's twitter. He finished doing the dad's army biopic today. |

I thought it had been confirmed that they're returning? Somebody who works for the BBC said some return dates had already been lined up.
Their exit was surely too low-key to be final? It wasn't even trailed or promoted and DTC didn't make any kind of statement like he did for Danielle Harold, James Forde and Mimi Keene. I'd be shocked if that was it. |

I thought filming was supposed to start this month and it be aired early next year?
Either way we should hear something soon. I am alot more concerned that we still haven't heard anything anout the casting of this transgender character. |

All the stuff ineebrtythe secret baby, alfie's brain tunour were clearly there as a tease to get people to watch the spin off when it happens next year. They may resolve everything during that, they may leave it until they return to the main show, whether that be straight after the spin off or in several years or it might just be something that remains unresolved as a possible future plotline like Mark Folwer Junior's true paternity. |

What are most people going on about that it's been scrapped? It was confirmed to be airing in early 2016.
