The show goes live exactly one week from today to tie in with ITV's 60th anniversary. It'll be going out in its usual time slot for one hour, meaning that it'll clash with the first half of the mammoth success that is Great British Bake-off. The last time the soap went live, nearly five years ago, it was during the monumentally successful tram crash week and the live episode itself scored just over 14m for its overnight rating.

Given how much ratings have fallen on the soap, and across terrestrial TV in general- as well as the poor quality- the show will never reach that height next week. Furthermore, it is unlikely to dent EE's huge ratings for the culmination of Who killed Lucy back in February.

Currently, the show is grabbing 7-7.5m on a decent night. Undoubtedly, it would score more if it wasn't clashing with GBBO, so I think that 8.6m would be be a realistic expectation.

I hadn't realised it was going to clash with Bake Off.

ITV just don't have a clue, do they?!

8-8.5 Million at most
It would peak higher but the end ie when the big shocks occur will be right in the middle of GBBO

I'm still aghast that they're scheduling it against GBBO. Really dumb move, ITV. The fact that the critically mauled Callum plot is taking centre stage is not good.

I'd like to see it get this amount, but sadly I don't see it happening.

8.8 million.

The same number of people who could fill Gail's delightful and much loved manhole at the same time

Gbbo will win the ratings battle I think

quite easily, its ratings are on the up this series. Corrie does have a half hour lead in so that might help depends if their is enough drama to encourage people to keep watching.

personally if the live is crap then I will switch to bake off and catch up with corrie the next day or on plus one

I think corries overnight figure for the live will beat Eastenders main live episode but I will wait till tomorrow to put a figure on

For me it has to hit 9m to be considered a success. It'll have done well to get that against Bake Off.

The problem is I expect the episode to build up into a climax, and if nothing interesting has happened in the first half an hour, then people will switch over.

The fully live episode got 10m but the Lucy reveal on Thursday got 11m.

Of course the comparison is pretty meaningless as EE Live had more build up and was a big anniversary for the show rather than just a celebration of ITV.

In this day and age that's amazing.

9 or 10 million. The storyline simply isn't big enough to get anything too colossal.

7.8. Possibly 8.2. I'm not expecting more given what the storylines will be.

Who Killed Lucy? was watercooler TV and had an incredible buzz around it. The audience's response to Callum, on the other hand, has been poor and is bound to affect ratings. Also, consider what's going on around the main plot- Andrea and Lloyd leaving zzzz; Sally and Kev's kiss being exposed zzzz etc.

The live episode is an insult to Coronation Street. ITV have lumbered them with what is essentially a novelty live episode that serves no purpose for Corrie at all.

Exactly, there is no justification for it except a gimmick to chase ratings. Corrie Live in 2000 and 2010 were built around the show itself. This has been inflicted on the show and if it's not well done will kill live episodes stone dead.

Absolutely! The 2000 live was inspired, linking back to the very first episode of the show. 2010 was nothing short of epic and that's a word I don't use very often.

Nearly five years on, it's hard to believe that it's the same show.

I think around 8.5 million, maybe 9 million? I doubt it will get more, but it would surprise me if they did. If's quite hard to believe that it was like only a couple of years ago when it use to get 9 million for it's regular episodes. I just hope that someone will wake up and kick Corrie back into shape.

I don't understand why Corrie did the live for ITV. I think Emmerdale should have done this live episode and Corrie should've done one for it's 55th anniversary in December, but should have planned it way in advance.

Around 8.5 million, they may scrape 9m if they are lucky.

A 1 hour Live episode of a soap. Is that all they have to show for 60 years? You would think they would make something of it or don't bother at all.

Somewhere around 9 million I think.

Blackburn did the Emmerdale live that was very well done so I think we may all be suprised.

I think they have a series of programmes going out to celebrate and the corrie ep is being heavily advertised now
