I can't believe he's still annoyed at Chloe...over pretty much nothing.

He's out of order - absolutely. Why should it have been compulsory for any of them to do the memorial thing. No one knew Austin's brother - it's ludicrous.

Absolutely. Feel some sympathy for Austin if he fees low by all means. But as you say they didn't know his brother. Unless they were close to his brother just standing there whilst Austin waffled on was meaningless anyway to the other housemates.

I really like him, he's a good housemate, but he seriously needs to know when to let something drop.

He said his bit already, several times, he's taking himself way to seriously.

I understand that he lost his brother, it must have been very hard to go through, but he's got to let this one drop as there will be no resolution. He had his say once, he should have left it at that.

Chloe can't re-live that night, the time has passed. She's never going to convince him of anything and I'm not sure he really has the right to demand that she does. She didn't have to attend the thing, it wasn't compulsory, although Davro was right in that she could have gone to him that night and said she wouldn't/couldn't attend, but at the end of the day it wasn't compulsory.

But Austin NEVER had any right to be angry with Chloe.

Why should she have joined in that toast to someone she never knew, she barely knows Austin.

Can't believe he felt the need to bring it up with the whole group present after he'd already had it out with her one on one.

Clearly was hoping for a bit of pack mentality Chloe bashing.

What a nasty bit of work.

Will anyone step up and tell Austin he's being a dick though? This is where someone can win it.

No I agree, didn't put it clearly. He had a right, as anybody does, to ask her in a civil manner why she didn't go if he really needed to know, but never to be angry no, I agree.

WHY doesn't someone say the bleeding obvious! I.E. why should Chloe or anyone else have to toast a relative of a HM they've never ever met, in addition to only knowing the HM for several weeks. It's so obvious it was his pre-planned playing card to show how 'sensitive' and 'nice' he is, and the only way to revert back to the day and milk it, is to keep on going on about it.

Why doesn't someone say they'd like to toast their dead Father, Mother, sister, etc.... as well - and have a toast a day.

It's so absolutely insane.

I respected Austin for telling fellow americans Farah and Jenna a few hope truths but after the last 2 shows I think Austin is a bully and Jenna and Farah trying to control and win the show.

All that needs to happen is Austin to be evicted which I think he will be on Friday.

I didn't mind him until this memorial stuff. He's really ****ing me off with his grand standing and self-entitlement in that he expects all these people who are relative strangers to raise a toast and show respect for his brother. Who the **** is his brother? Yes, he died in a car crash but he's not the only person in the world who has suffered a tragedy.

After he shaved his hair off in support for Gail, I thought it was a lovely gesture. Until he threw her under a bus less than 24 hrs later with his nomination. Then, I started to question his motives as a desperate bid for airtime.

I thought it possibly cruel and cynical on my part to think perhaps he is also using his brother's tragedy for air time also. Not because he is narcissistic. That, I believe he is to a certain point and he obviously has a lot of love for his late brother. But, we must remember, his talent is being a reality tv star. These folks folks will whore their deepest emotions in front of the camera to become relevant, i.e: have intimate surgery, give birth, have sex, chronicle their cancer treatment, film their counselling sessions, etc - is it particularly shocking that Austin would use his brother's death for air time? Not because he doesn't give a shit about his sibling but because he is your typical dyed in the wool, reality tv wannabe, it is normal to expose your own emotions?

Still think it was wrong that he seems to think it was compulsory everyone should attend his brother's memorial. Even deep, personal human tragedy is there for public consumption, which sits ill at ease with me. What if the other house mates had a personal anniversary of a loved ones death - Would they have to give that reason to Austin to bale out and only under those circumstances he would accept that? It might be best for others to keep the peace and show up for the memorial but at the end of the day, why should they have to? Austin has shown zero respect for Chloe since day one but he expects her to show him sympathy and respect for his own brother? His arrogance has gone through the roof. i really don't know what's pissing him off but he is bang out of order! Sitting there, like he's all high and mighty and acting deeply offended by her actions. His actions remind me of that Stephen Fry quote:

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ****ing what."

Honestly, I wish somebody would say to him after the way he has carried on regarding the memorial, 'so ****ing what, Austin! You got your air time now sit your ass down.' I'm really disappointed in him and it's uncomfortable to watch him pick on Chloe. I'm not a fan of her and she is a few bricks short of a wall and not quite there and obviously emotionally vulnerable and I can imagine she is exasperating to live with but, it's awful viewing watching him attack her the way he does. And using his brother's memorial to re-iterate how right he morally is, is exposing his ugly side to quite a degree.

Not strong enough imo. He was just trying to keep the peace it seemed. He wasn't telling Austin he was in the wrong.

Janice was the only one who effectively stood up to Austin, but she was involved. Someone on the outside of the argument needs to grow some balls and stand up for what's right. Even though it isn't their neck on the line.

Agreed with everything you have said especially using his brothers death to gain airtime and as he thinks win the show.

Shame on you Austin - your family will not be proud.

re Austins gesture to Gail in shaving his head. At the time I thought that was more of a token gesture to curry favour with the public. If it was a genuine show of solidarity he would have gone full skinhead. Giving yourself a number one is not putting you on a level with someone who has alopecia.

His true colours are coming out.

When the 'bad edit' excuse is used in his defence you know things are looking bleak. lol

Problem is, once that can of worms is opened it only creates unlimited questions, especially since the edit is pretty much all we have.

I think it generally works out as:
Housemate I dislike looks bad = that's how things are.
Housemate I like looks bad = bad edit

I mean even James is complaining about Austin, when he clearly doesn't want to, so he must be behaving pretty bad.

I find James pretty bland and quite in to himself, however, credit where it is due, I do like the fact he can say to his friend that his behavior is wrong. He does appear to have a caring side. Although I was screaming at the tv when he was in the diary room when he was saying Chloe should have gone to the memorial. Why does she have to??!!!!
