I didn't mind him until this memorial stuff. He's really ****ing me off with his grand standing and self-entitlement in that he
expects all these people who are relative strangers to raise a toast and show respect for his brother. Who the **** is his brother? Yes, he died in a car crash but he's not the only person in the world who has suffered a tragedy.
After he shaved his hair off in support for Gail, I thought it was a lovely gesture. Until he threw her under a bus less than 24 hrs later with his nomination. Then, I started to question his motives as a desperate bid for airtime.
I thought it possibly cruel and cynical on my part to think perhaps he is also using his brother's tragedy for air time also. Not because he is narcissistic. That, I believe he
is to a certain point and he obviously has a lot of love for his late brother. But, we must remember, his talent is being a reality tv star. These folks folks will whore their deepest emotions in front of the camera to become relevant, i.e: have intimate surgery, give birth, have sex, chronicle their cancer treatment, film their counselling sessions, etc - is it particularly shocking that Austin would use his brother's death for air time? Not because he doesn't give a shit about his sibling but because he is your typical dyed in the wool, reality tv wannabe, it is normal to expose your own emotions?
Still think it was wrong that he seems to think it was compulsory everyone should attend his brother's memorial. Even deep, personal human tragedy is there for public consumption, which sits ill at ease with me. What if the other house mates had a personal anniversary of a loved ones death - Would they have to give that reason to Austin to bale out and only under those circumstances he would accept that? It might be best for others to keep the peace and show up for the memorial but at the end of the day, why should they have to? Austin has shown zero respect for Chloe since day one but he expects her to show him sympathy and respect for his own brother? His arrogance has gone through the roof. i really don't know what's pissing him off but he is bang out of order! Sitting there, like he's all high and mighty and acting deeply offended by her actions. His actions remind me of that Stephen Fry quote:
“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ****ing what."
Honestly, I wish somebody would say to him after the way he has carried on regarding the memorial, 'so ****ing what, Austin! You got your air time now sit your ass down.' I'm really disappointed in him and it's uncomfortable to watch him pick on Chloe. I'm not a fan of her and she is a few bricks short of a wall and not quite there and obviously emotionally vulnerable and I can imagine she is exasperating to live with but, it's awful viewing watching him attack her the way he does. And using his brother's memorial to re-iterate how right he morally is, is exposing his ugly side to quite a degree.
