Verity Rushworth puts herself up to replace Jenna Coleman
Former Emmerdale actress (as is Jenna of course) who was excellent in her portrayal of Donna's terminal cancer storyline in that show. It was a very popular storyline with viewers and she had great chemistry with her on screen partner in that show (Michael Parr).
Nope, can't say I have. Anyway, this seems a bit of a non story. Someone saying they want to be the companion isn't any news at all. I could say I want to be cast as the companion, doesn't make it news that I'm asking. In fact it sort of seems to prove this woman isn't even in the realm of consideration, as if she had any indication at all that she might even be considered, she wouldn't be talking about it publicly.
Besides, as I said in another thread, if series 10 is happening next year in the same slot as the last 2 years then the companion would almost certainly have been cast by now , and if the rumours of no series are true and they don't need a full time companion until 2017 then it's probably something they wouldn't have to worry about yet. Either way I doubt they are auditioning or considering people at this time.

I don't watch Emmerdale myself but as it's on in the house I see much of it - I recall seeing Jenna Coleman a fair few years ago and I remember this woman too. She's a very good actress if my memory of her is any good, as she was quite pivotal at the time.
I wouldn't object to seeing her in Doctor Who, even as a companion. It's just questionable as to whether she's the kind of companion the show needs right now... I'm still quite keen on a shake-up for an older woman, or a young male companion - not necessarily contemporary either. In RTD-Who it kind of felt right that the three main companions were from contemporary Earth as they offered that pivotal perspective to home. Moffat seldom bothers with trips home as it is (and when he does it a bit more we get Danny Pink) so I feel he could get away with a non-contemporary companion.
That being said if Osgood is still a candidate too then by all means I'll consider her a good choice as well - if only because she's familiar, a decent actress and doesn't need introducing.

I'd quite like Osgood to be the new companion, but I think it likely that her being established might rule her out because they always seem to want someone shiny and new. Would be good if it was her though, especially since it would mean there would be the groundwork of a relationship already there rather than just showing us a new person and then trying to convince us they are suddenly instantly important to the doctor and have a strong relationship with him.

I've suggested elsewhere that it could be wholly dependent on how long Moffat plans to stay. Donna was a good fit for RTD's final full year, and then even in his last story bringing in her Grandfather as the companion allowed for a bit less familiarisation. If Moffat has only one more full series in him (which as much as Series 9 looks fantastic, I'm really hoping is the case as I want to see what someone else can bring to it soon!) then he may wish to allow himself the freedom of a character who is a bit less demanding of explanations all the time.
Plus Osgood is quite a bit of fun, and generally really popular already. I guess her involvement in Series 9 may give a hint about the future of the character...we don't even know if she's properly 'undied' yet

There's a great scene with Jenna Coleman (should play from that part once you click the link), and then the scene straight after as far as I know, is Verity Rushworth as Donna Windsor-Dingle.
So, for anyone who has never watched Emmerdale, that's the woman who is reported to be wanting the DW companions job for series 10.
When the BBC confirm Coleman expect usual speculation BUT I expect the next companion has been already been chosen, I don't know if Ms Rushworth is competent as an actress but I will say she has zero chance.
All the companions bar Noble and Rose have previously appeared in the past series ( not sure about what's her name who came after Rose though) so if true to form we have already witnessed the next companion appearing in the show.
Heck they could be planining on bringing back Sophia Myles as the time travelling Madame de Pompadour.

Sophia Myles cannot come back as Madame De Pompadour, as the character died in the initial episode she was in back in 2006.

Yes, she can come back. Even if you accept your interpretation of the "not crossing his own timeline" "rule" (something which has been broken already, several times) writers will break that "rule" if there's a good enough story to be had. Time can be re-written.
The Doctor (10) only visited her at certain points in her life. As far as I can see there's nothing stopping 12 visiting her again between 10's last visit before her death and her actual death, I don't recall anything said in 10's final visit, after her death, that precludes that.
Whether it would make sense dramatically is another question. It would be a bit too much like River's story in the sense that we've already seen her death and would devalue the emotional impact 10s post death visit.

Except that it's fine when it suits the story, especially every multi doctor episode ever.
I have not been an avid viewer of Emmerdale for some time now but I vaguely remember her character in it (though I wouldn't have been able to tell you her real name off-hand).
I think she could play the part quite well and it would be nice to have someone over 30 again.

Didn't she write a letter just before she died (which the King then gave to the Doctor) saying how the Doctor had never come back to visit her.
You might get away with saying she was only talking about the 10th Doctor not coming back for her I suppose.

Ah, OK, I hadn't remembered that.
The Doctor (12, or any subsequent visiting Doctor) could also erase her memories after any such visit, thus avoiding any universe threatening paradoxes.
You could also say 12, or any subsequent visiting Doctor, got her to write that letter so as to preserve things for 10's post death visit.
Not that I think it would be a satisfying idea dramatically, but it shows that feasibly Madame du Pompadour could be brought back if there was a story that made it worthwhile.
Wouldn't mind seeing the Doctor with an older companion for a change rather than the young fit girl which has become the norm.
Bit late now but I think a mature no nonsense school teacher type would have worked great alongside the youthful silliness of Matts Doctor.
