That drunken convo was another of Austin's attempts to be manipulative. He was staking a claim of "ownership" over James- we know each other better than most friends etc. It was a creepy thing to do regardless of the genders/sexuality of those involved. Austin was trying to establish a much stronger bond than James felt comfortable with-but I wonder why he was trying to do that?
That clinginess, the "I know you better than any of your friends" rings alarm bells with most people as its usually a preface to more demands. Emotional intimacy, platonic or otherwise, cannot be forced and its entirely natural to be suspicious of those who try to force it, so I totally get why people see Austin's behaviour in the drunken row as predatory. If I was Austin's husband I'd be much more annoyed about that scene than any of the horseplay/ flirting. |

I'll be the judge whether something is homophobic or not
What the hell do you know about prejudice? Do you have some straight git hurl abuse at you when you walk down the street or not? No? Thought not? Also they are very comfortable with each other. Comfortable where they know where the barriers are Austin Is gay, James is straight You know its because of gossipy sanctemonius people like yourself that homophobia spreads. That causes damage. But what is that to a little straight gossip such as yourself Eh? I'm a woman so an expert on all things sexist and have a right to call anyone sexist whether they are or not! see how ridiculous your last post sounds? Austins behavior crossed from friend to flirting when he got into James bed naked and asked him to rub cream on James walked away from that situation clearly uncomfortable so James set the boundaries. last night's conversation made Austin look a bit desperate it's a fair comment to say a little predatory I would describe it more as possessive to be fair but we can discuss actions of housemates without labeling people as homophobic racist sexist etc it all gets silly |

I can't see anything predatory, or that Austin's friendship is sexually motivated. They bonded from day one as mates that's all.
Every show someone is accused of being creepy now, Austin might be a bit needy in terms of support but he knows and I think respects where he stands with James. It is a nice friendship that has it's ups and downs as friends do. |

Which James walked away from. Barriers have been set. No straight guy is going to jump into bed with a gay guy due to that [QUOTE moley mo]last night's conversation made Austin look a bit desperate it's a fair comment to say a little predatory I would descries it more as possessive to be fair but we can discuss actions of housemates without labeling people as homophobic racist sexist etc it all gets silly |

I'd say the insult that he was predatory would be far more harmful to take |

Austin has been going out with Jake for seven years. He spends his time in new York and then meets him in Huddersfield. I'd say he knows a helluva lot more then you do about Austin then you do

Describing Austins actions as predatory crosses the line I would think Jenna , Fat man Scoop, Bobby, Natasha etc etc were being a little predatory and possessive if they were insisting they know James better than anyone after only 3 weeks. I think you are very rude and ignorant to call people homophobic because they don't like the actions of a housemate that you like. |

The problem many have is that predatory is an insinuation made in a homophobic way to demonise gay people and has been for many, many years.
James is behaving exactly the same way towards Austin yet not one person would ever think of calling it predatory, simply because 'predatory' is a go-to word for describing gay people . What we're seeing is two friends engaging in frat house style horse play. The ONLY reason it's called "predatory" is because that's a stereotype people have about gay people. They are two friends having a chat sitting on the sofa. There's noting 'predatory' about it at all, only if you instinctively see any gay man who isn't an effeminate, sexless, camp joke, as 'predatory', which sadly many people still do. |

James is a competent adult and I think he likes the flirting so it's not predatory. I don't think because a gay guy fancies someone it is predatory. But there is definitely flirtation in their relationship and he fancies James. |

I don't think he's predatory but that is simply not true. Austen has stripped off and asked James to massage him (hamstring!!!), taken off his own shorts last night and exposed James earlier in the day.

So why do people have a problem with Austn's flirtation towards James but not James suggestions to Farrah and Jenna that them massaging him was giving him a boner?

I don't think Austin is predatory towards James at all. I think he sees him as a really good friend and the thing that I do enjoy most about this awful series is the friendship that the two of them have. It is developing into a really good friendship without any romantic feelings or notions on Austin's part. He has remained completely faithful to his husband
