Sad to see her go. Best companion of the new series. I can only hope they don't consider Osgood or Shona as her replacement. Both were far too irritating.

Bring in a companion from further back in history again!

I'm really sad to see her go. Jenna is probably the best actress ever to grace the show! She works so so well with Capaldi. A brilliant pairing, and at least we're gonna get a few more episodes with them together.

What a charming gentleman you are. About the third time youve banged on about this picture.

Oh wow she took a prop key to the TARDIS, big whoop that is hardly stealing.

The other two?

Or by 'about', do you mean I mentioned it once before?

But in way is remarking about the poor lighting of a photo offensive to the person in it?

I agree. Even though we pretty much knew, considering they've kept it quiet this long, was there really such a pressing need to have it confirmed that the news couldn't wait another 12 weeks (at most).

Usually when they announce departures in advance, it is so the actor/actress can freely scout for work, but in this case she already had another job lined up, which was already public knowledge so she and itv could have happily talked about and hyped up her new role whilst the doctor who team could have still kept quiet about her status in doctor who. Sure we'd heavily suspect, as most of us have since the news about the victoria role came along, but there is a difference between suspicions which enhance the series because you want to see if you were right, and a confirmed spoiler that a character is definitely 100% leaving and knowing that before the first episode even airs.

Although now it is confirmed, all I can say is whooohoooo!. Bring on a likable companion.

I asked you for the other two times I "banged on" about it.

So far you've mentioned that I once remarked about the poor lighting of the photo. Hardly banging on, eh...

I for one am very sad to see her go, but I think Jenna's time has probably come. I wish her all the best.

I know people have their negative opinions about the character and the actor but I wish we could at least show Jenna the respect she's earned over the last three years. Hopefully her departure will do just that.

You *would*? Naughty naughty.

I'm sure Jenna was being skittish and leaving long term cast members are traditionally allowed to take a few bits and bobs as mementos.

I mean, if they half inched the Time Rotor that would be another matter....

But it's not just the key, is it? Because of the security risk she's caused, the lock will have to be changed now too, and double-curtain trimonic barrier locks are hardly cheap...

The departure of a regular cast member is too big to be kept secret. In addition to Jenna's other projects being beyond the control of the BBC, there's also the issue of her successor appearing in publicity shots. If the newcomer appears in publicity shots with Peter, but not Jenna, then that in itself would be a dead giveaway.

Or don't you think a new regular cast member should get any fanfare? Maybe the new person should just show up as a "surprise" too?

How would she get it past security lol

In reality Clara has pretty much run her course as a companion and the whole 'glory days' talk makes her exit likely to be on the heartbreaking side, especially with River on the horizon to comfort him. Plus The Doctor does deserve an exclusive companion in this incarnation, but it doesn't mean I won't miss her tho.

Jenna on the other hand has been a great addition to the show both on screen and off, and I wish her all the best in the future.

She should have left at the end of the last series so it's not a moment too soon for me.

I agree with the poster who said that it would be nice not to know in advance so that we have an element of surprise.

Looking forward to seeing the new companion.

Clara as a character, always helped the Doctor, sometimes he didn't always respond, when she called him, she walked away at times, due to frustration. The Doctor also helped Clara understand, sometimes you have to go, things alone and find your strength. I would like to see that strength in this new series.

Such a pity that she didn't leave at the end of the last series or even better, when Matt Smith left.

Why do you care if your an ex-fan?

What like David Tennant did too? And Matt Smith. And Karen Gillan? I've heard all of them talking about taking mementos from the set. I kind of assume your comment is nonsense stirring because frankly it's a bit childish. It's the 'I don't like them so lets find something to justify this!'.
