Fantastic news, it's all a bit merry-go-round of soap producers but I couldn't care less so long as Blackburn goes. |

Excellent news. I'm so glad Stuart Blackburn is leaving but hopefully Kate Oates will do a good job

I'm surprised it has taken this long for them to take action.
Now of course we have to endure various executives waxing lyrical about how great Stuart Blackburn has been. Like when Lorraine Newman left EastEnders. I wish they were bringing in someone new though. As we are seeing with Bryan Kirkwood, it can't be good for someone to continuously work in soap without a break. Some of her storylines have been a bit out there as well and that didn't work for Corrie when Collinson was in charge. |

Sad to see Kate Oates leave Emmerdale but I'm sure she'll do a great job at Corrie. Can't wait to see what she does with it. Sorry I just made another thread about Blackburn didn't spot this

I am so happy. Hopefully Katie can sort out the absolute mess Blackburn has turned Corrie into. Axe the deadwood characters he brought in and sort out the writing team.
If yopu read this link, the claptrap they are talking about Blackburn. The only think Blackburn has overseen is the decline of Corrie, the poor quality it has seen over his tenure and the absolute turn off it has become. http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press...-new-producers |

Is Kate Oates much better?
I don't watch Emmerdale so in what way is she better than Blackburn? |

Fantastic news for Corrie, Kate Oates has been brilliant with Emmerdale. Hopefully ED's new producer will be just as good.

Great news for Corrie but who will take over with Emmerdale? She has been amazing for that show.

Providing Oates avoids sensationalism I think Corrie have got the better deal. Emmerdale hasn't, contrary to hyperbole, been perfect under her but I'd say it's been more good than bad.
The guy who's coming into Emmerdale has been working on Hollyoaks and that show has been an abomination recently. He was also at Corrie during a couple of awful eras. |

Excuse my naivety but do they all swap around or something? I don't really understand how it all works.

Such great news, although I would also welcome a few more changes within the production team - as I'm sure many other FMs will agree.
Would be good to see the back of Kieran Roberts. |

Looking forward to this, I think Stuart Blackburn was actually necessary for Corrie, he kinda brought normality back to the show after Collinson's crazy few years.

Great news for Corrie but horrific for Emmerdale, not just that KO is leaving but someone not deemed good enough to be in charge of Hollyoaks currently has replaced her...... Good luck
If she starts in Jan then it's at least April/May before anything on screen changes |

So - a current series producer at Hollyoaks is to take over from Kate at Emmerdale.
Why doesn't that surprise me! |

This will be so interesting to see
For me, Kate turned emmerdale around. She turned the show from background noise to must see tv as I had not enjoyed ED in a long time. But Corrie is in need of saving and she is the best one for the job. But i hope ED doesn't suffer with it's new hollyoaks producer. With new producers normally means the axe will be in full force on many characters next year. |
