With the news that Emmerdale and Coronation are getting new producers when do you all think DTC will step down as EP of Eastenders and who do you think will be EP of Eastenders after DTC?

Someone from the building opposite my office quit the other week. Presumably I should consider stepping down from my job?

I can't see DTC stepping down for at least another year or two.

Corrie's change in EP was a long time coming and in desperate need to be done because of the state it is in. While i am not overly keen on DTC as a whole, EE is fine as it is and needs no new EP yet.

Stuart and Kate only stepped down as Emmerdale producers, because they wanted to go to a better and better ratings soap, in my opinion. EastEnders rates well, so I cannot see DTC going anywhere just yet.

No, i think Kate stepped down because Corrie was in need of a better EP. Nothing to do with ratings. I wouldn't put it past ITV begging her to do it after the wonders she has done with ED.

Hopefully not tor a while yet. He just needs to fix the block storytelling and wrap up a few storylines.

I don't think he's going anywhere for a while yet.

However, before he does leave, it would be nice if DTC actually wrapped up some the storylines he started. Linda's rape, Stacey's key, Lucy's murder, Les & Claudette's secret... all still with no end in sight.

I hope DTC stays for a long time to come I think he has refreshed the show and brought back some of the history of the show. Thanks

LOL storylines don't end, bassy. They have a beginning and a middle. That's it. DTC told me.

Surely one of the current writers who delivers the best episodes should be a good candidate.

Not really? An Exec Producer is basically a high level ops manager responsible for the overseeing of the whole production not just the writing of episodes.

I just thought I would stir the pot

I don't mnd blackburn, he has clearly met the targets that ITV set him.

I think much of his problem have been the writing team that they have at corrie rather than anything else

I think there have been a lot of good ideas but then the writing has failed

I dont think he deserves half the grief he gets on here

I don't want him to go yet but, yes when he does I hope he sorts the ongoing story lines.
