After all he has been in charge as executive producer since 2006, which funnily enough is since Corrie has been dragging along and doing badly. I know everyone sees Kate Oates as some wonderful saviour who is going to make Corrie fantastic, but perhaps some others behind the scenes need replacing, mostly the writers?

Just a thought.

From what I know writers aren't in charge of plot lines. They just write the dialogue. They can only write well if their given good material to work with. So it's not their fault if the soap goes pear shaped.

He absolutely needs to go.

I've bleated on about this for a couple of years now!

he is also itv director of drama in the north and exec producer of Corrie. not sure he can be blamed!

I think the problem is the writers, most of the time they do have some good storylines then the writing lets them down badly. they introduced the nazirs and then tried to recruit ethnic minority writers to be able write them as they are and not as white people (sorry if that sounds offensive but try and see what I mean)

they are given an overview of the plot line and the writers do the rest. the writing on corrie at times is very very poor, its also the writers that forget that kevin had a son as they write the scripts! not just the writers to blame tho as the scripts and everything will go through many processes, checks and tweaking before being signed off

I agree with you 100%, he needs to be replaced. Because while im very glad Blackburn has gone and there will be an end to his era, its not just a new producer but an overhaul of the writing team that CS needs and I'd guess that falls to the EP to decide.
