Cannot connect to server.....

I'll keep this simple. I must as I'm no technophile.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace phone which, until a few weeks ago, was sending and delivering emails.

I have a Laptop and an IPad which are both responding as they should.

What have I done to the phone? I feel I have unwittingly deactivated something. I have tried Googling but frankly am lost after the first few words.

The phone recognises that my email account exists by the way and I can access the Internet without problems.

Any help please?

What email client are you using?
Is there a set up wizard that you can repeat?
Who is the email with ? (gmail/hotmail/isp etc)
How long has this been going on? it may only be temporary if the ISP (or whoever) email server is down.

I kept my old blueyonder address with Virgin. It's been going on about 5 weeks and I'm getting emails with the same address on my Laptop and iPad.

I think the shop did the original set up. I suppose I'll have to go and ask but the staff are incredibly dismissive.

Hard to say precisely without knowing what you are using in each machine (what sort of client, what sort of connection).
Assuming you have a client on the phone, you need to find the server settings in the client and check them using this page.

I had a cheap phone that suddenly stopped. The shop thought the WiFi antenna might have broken.

I inherited a Sony experia from my son, and I have that now.

I see its not that, as you can still get online.

I had this problem with a Tiscali account. As my wife now has a Talktalk.net one, telling my laptop to use the Talktalk server instead of the Tiscali one solved the problem. I have a cheap Galaxy phone and altering that has been unsuccessful so far, at the moment I am using gmail on it but will probably add a Talktalk.net account one which should solve the problem but it is a pain. I think companies no longer monitor their old servers from companies they have taken over.
