The Voice of Willis

Nails down a blackboard...just the most gruesome high-pitched squawk imaginable.

I usually watch the eviction shows off the hard-drive so as to be able to fast-forward through the inane punters and, especially, Emma's spine-chilling,glass-shattering voice.

But tonight I'm watching live.
Man,that's some high upper frequencies she's got going on. The sound department must hate her. But not as much as I do. The sound of her screech brings violence into my body.

Aaaaaarrrghhhh...

STOP PRESS

I've just routed the TV audio via the Eventide Harmoniser in my studio and this has taken her voice down an octave to a more palatable Barry White purr.

There's nothing wrong with it.

Maybe you only like women with deep voices.

She does a bit like hungry seagulls when she gets excited about something.

She knows what she sounds like. I think she's tried hard to tone it down now she's getting the big bucks on ITV and BBC, but, anyway, I'm almost immune to it now.

When she's on the BBC she sounds completely different.

She only sounds a bit screechy on Big Brother because she's having to fake enthusiasm.

I certainly like women with a lower register than Miss ScreechyPants...but I also have plenty experience of "fake enthusiasm" !

Her voice is no more annoying than Rylan's imo. He has a high voice which he over exaggerates and shrieks with too sometimes, but I accept that it's just the way he is, just as I accept Emma can't change the naturalway she sounds too (and she exaggerates less).

I think Emma's voice is okay. She just has a bit of a high-pitched voice when she gets excited.

I like Emma, but have to agree her voice is irritating when she is doing all the outside stuff. When she is talking more normally it is more bearable but still a bit throaty.

In my view she is better on shows where her dulcet tones are more centre stage.

A bit of voice coaching might be in order?
