Will River cause a stir for The Doctor?

River is back in the Christmas episode, to stir up all those old feelings. Annoyance, frustration, love, respect, passion, humour, not necessarily in that order.

Will be so interesting to see the dynamics of the duo, to see if that has changed or is still the same?

Well, she does have a massive head.

At any rate, I'll be intrigued to see how they address the big gap of time elapsed now. One reference in The Caretaker aside, the Doctor is now over double the age he was when we last saw the two interact on-screen. Will be interesting to find out how he's maintained a relationship with her.

Well of course, from rivers point of view, she could have just seen 10/11 or even 12 at another point in his life 5 minutes before the adventure starts. It's just like how we act as though her interactions with 11 were fairly close because we saw them close together and yet actually when you stop and think about it, there could have been and were in her eyes, years between some of those interactions given how 11 first saw her as a newborn and last saw her when she'd been made 'professor' River song which we know was nearer to the end of her life. During those year's long gaps between her visits with 11, she could well have been having adventures with 10 or 12, and indeed from her point of view. For all we know the upcoming Christmas episode could be between two of her episodes with 11 in her timeline.

Basically, what I'm saying is, when your talking about the ultimate timey wimey relationship, normal things like how long it's been since they saw each other don't really apply. They both know they meet out of order, and have both come to accept that they are usually never on the same page (literally, if were talking about their diaries) or at the same place in their relationship as the other one thinks.

I'd like to think 12 will encourage her to cut the nonsense and stop speaking in sound bites. Or just tell her to shut up repeatedly till she actually does.

It'll be interesting actually. Despite all the complaining I'm doing about her return I think the dynamic between her and Capaldi might actually be quite special.

Says River: "Well you're the reason we got a divorce!"

That would be funny.

She like Missy represents a lot of his history. 10 watched her die. 11 was there when she was born and abducted. He also married her and was the reason she went to prison.

River /Melody is not just his wife she is also the daughter of his old companions Amy and Rory. Cause it will bring a lot of good and bad emotions to the surface seeing her again.

Hope they get at least a few happy moments especially if it is her last episode.
