Apologies, it's late and I'm tired, so I'm going to copy my post again rather than re-type ... call me lazy
Personally I think he's a nice guy, mature, thoughtful, has a spine, stands up for himself and others.
I think he's being himself in there.
I also think that, when it comes down to wanting to win and being in a situation like they were tonight, yes he's going to vote tactically. That's not a bad thing, after all they were put in a gameshow type situation, standing at podiums and having to pick each other off.
That doesn't mean he's not genuine in general, just that specifically in that situation he played the game.
Had the remaining 5 housemates been different housemates, somebody else may have voted tactically - the number podium they stood on made it possible for the first 2 housemates to choose to make a more tactical vote than the second two housemates.
I think that he took the easy way out, knew that somebody would vote for Bobby and Sherrie so he took the opportunity to big himself up a bit, pick somebody that he knew Chloe/Stevie would pick anyway, made himself look the good guy - which he didn't really need to do because we already knew he was a decent bloke.
Had Stevie and Chloe been first then they would undoubtedly have chosen Janice, then I imagine that James would have chosen Bobby. Austin, more than likely, had he been first would have saved Jenna. Had it gone down to a Sherrie/Farrah finale with James last to pick, he'd have picked Sherrie.
I think the result would have been the same either way, so James did take the opportunity to do something to sell himself but the result was more than likely the same either way.
