This isn't me standing up for him.

He had spells when Michael LeVaiil had to have periods away from the show
William Roache also had over a year out.
Anne Kirkbride dying
Female cast members failing pregnant every 5 minutes
And to finish it off poor Simon Gregson is having to take time off

I guess that's one of the downsides of being the boss. You have to cope with whatever situations are thrown at you. It's just that people like soap producers do it in front of a bigger audience than most bosses have!

I think alot of people had it in for him before he even started the job! even when he does something well or actually deserves praise you come on here and it is full of people with their rose tinted glasses who are unable/incapable of being anything other than needlessly negative.

Its like people form an opinion and no matter what it never changes. If he was that bad and corrie was that bad why do these people contine to watch.

I felt that just before steves depression storyline corrie was terrible, i was going to stop watching but stuck it out for that storyline and you know what glad I did cos Corrie is pretty good again but hardly anyone sees it because they refuse to open their minds and dare change their opinion.

I do agree with this. When something positive does happen, I have found comments saying that more than one person works on the show and it probably wasn't Blackburn. However when something bad does happen, the sole blame goes on him. Some are incapable of giving credit when credit is due.

Superb post Lea, I try battling the needless negativity but I think I'm in a losing battle with that one

I agree that he's definitely been unfairly targeted by a lot of people.

As I've said now six trillion times, Blackburn alone isn't responsible for Corrie. He's not the equivalent of Stalin, Castro or Kim Jong-un. He doesn't hold absolute power at Corrie. Yes he's in charge. Yes the buck stops with him but he is just one part of a massive team.

Corrie is in a difficult place but Blackburn isn't the sole reason.
