Annoying IOS9 issue, anyone else had this?
So since updating to IOS 9 I've noticed when my mum texts me it just comes up with her number and not the name, I tested it with the wife and her name comes up, so does my dads too, just seems to be my mum? I've already googled and it seems like this has been happening since ios7 at least, I've read a lot of posts saying try this try that, some people have even restored their phones( too much hassle).
Things I've tried is, turning the phone on and off, pressing and holding the power and home button for a soft reset, I've gone into settings and "reset all settings", and what a right pain in the ass the latter was! It put everything back to like it was when you first install ios9, even changed my wall paper! Took me ages sorting it out and turning off everything that was turned on after doing the reset. Anyway none of that worked! I may hold out for ios9.1 and hope updating to that sorts it. It's not a massive deal breaker just very annoying, never had this happen before. Anyone else got this problem or had it before? What did you do to resolve it? Thanks |

Not sure if this actually works or not or even why it's relevant, but someone elsewhere said they resolved theirs by changing their passcode to 6 digits and then reverting back to 4 digits. Quote:
I changed my passcode from a four-digit one to a six-digit one (as prompted when changing password) and then back to the original four-digit one. Either that fixed it, or it fixed itself at the same time I had tried that.

Well that didn't work either, and I even restarted the phone after I changed back to 4 digits. I suspect the only way of fixing it would be restoring but I can't be bothered with that over one contact not displaying properly when receiving texts. Hopefully 9.1 will fix it when that's out, which with abit of luck won't be long?

I've had this before on iOS 8 but I can't for the life in me remeber how I sorted it. Here are a few things to try though;
- Delete your Mum from Contacts, then try adding her again - try adding your Mum by going into a message from her, click the "i" at the top right then "add new contact" (or whatever the wording is) - Switch off Dial Assist (Settings > Phone), re-boot your phone, then switch Dial Assist back on - Switch off iMessage (Settings > Messages > iMessage) then back on again (it'll say "waiting for activation" for a few seconds when you switch it back on) Let us know how you get on

Hi mate, I've already tried the dial assist but I didn't reboot the phone I don't think?
Also I don't use iMessage so it's already turned off. Only thing I didn't try was deleting the contact and re-adding, so I've gone with that one first(if it doesn't work I'll go over the others again), I suppose it's the most obvious thing to do but I never thought of that! I've done it and I rebooted the phone afterwards too, obviously I'll have to wait until later when she texts me to see if it's sorted or not, will post back. Cheers |

Update, deleting and re-adding the name didn't work either.
Starting to think I'll have to wait until 9.1 and hope updating sorts it |
