Have you any chance of haggling when upgrading? My mate said he is getting the 6 s plus on EE for £44.99 a month & phone is only £80. I found that hard to believe ( for a start there is no £44.99 tariff with 10gb of data.

I didn't think you could haggle with iPhone tariffs

Put in English, if you already have an iPhone 6 there is little reason to fork out and upgrade to the 6S

FTFY

The improvements are worth it, if you don't mind and can afford the £150-£200 it will cost to do so.

To be honest I thought I meant that but was just checking, thanks anyway. Although that has baffled me even more now as @Sirocco758 has said the changes Apple have made to the iPhone 6S from the iPhone 6 do look and seem like a MASSIVE update to the device not just a few changes here and there.

@d123 I really don't know where you get the idea from that to get the iPhone 6S will only cost £150-£200, I mean what so your saying for a USED iPhone 6 you can get between £340-£390?? To even ask for that or expect anywhere near that amount is ludicrous, maybe for an iPhone 6 bought in July 2015 that has had a case and screen protectors on it since Day 1 I'd say yeah ok but you'd be lucky to scrape £250-£300 for a well used and scratched/chipped iPhone 6.

Also I don't like how you and @jonner101 bring up "if you can afford it" as what difference is it to you both if a person takes what a day, week, month or even a few months to save their own money to get the "latest and greatest" iPhone, I mean you know my situation in that it would cost me the FULL £619 to get the iPhone 6S which would take me a few weeks to save up for as it is a very expensive amount to shell out in one go.

If you take a look at those reviews by Digital Spy you will see that the reviewer has said that they both (6S and 6S Plus) are pretty much new phones and are a class above the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.”

It's a pretty terrible review to be honest. The point is, its hardly a worthwhile upgrade from the 6, 6 plus to cancel a holiday over!!

C'mon @Stiggles it's been over a week that @Sirocco758 has confirmed that he is NOT cancelling his holiday next month so let it lie now.

Having considered everything and reading the replies and reviews I have decided I will go for the upgrade now as I've come to realise how much of a shit, cheap, basic and outdated phone the iPhone 6 really is compared to the iPhone 6S, I just wish other posters on this thread could see the iPhone 6 that way aswell.

FTFY

Nearly every review I've read including the two on this site have said precisely the same thing. The 6S is a great phone, force touch is neat but it just isn't worth the price it would cost to upgrade from a 6/6 plus which is far greater than the £150-£200 you are quoting and if it's possible to upgrade at that price could you please enlighten us as to how because at that cost of upgrading it might just be worth it

I do have a reservation at the Apple Store for Friday but at the moment I'm seriously considering passing on it”

I'm kind of the same. I also have a reservation for Friday but I'm wondering if it's really worth the upgrade. 3D Touch looks nice but I have the impression that it won't really change things. The only thing that looks good is the camera but will it be enough. The camera on my 6 plus is already pretty good and if I'm honest the cameras on the galaxy note 5/ 6 edge plus look more tempting.

If I buy that 6 plus I've got reserved I'm looking at paying £789. I can get about £350 if I sell my 6 plus. That means that I'll be paying about £440 for the upgrade. At the same time I could pay £450 and upgrade my contract and get the 6 edge plus. I'd have 2 phones and at least it would be something different. The only problem is that all my stuff is Apple ( iPads, Apple Watch, MacBook, Apple TV) so the Samsung wouldn't really fit in.

Don't you find the 6 plus too big?

I'd like to know how I can get the iPhone 6S for only £150-£200 aswell, it just doesn't seem realistic if your iPhone 6 is over 6 months old. Your price of £300-£400 is more likely and what I'd have said you'd need.

The way I see it what's under the hood is always going to be sufficient for our needs.. and the battery always seems to support the same length of use generally.. so for me it comes down to:

- Form factor
- Size
- Camera
- Any other stand out hardware features such as the screen

If there is no huge difference in the above then I don't bother. When I finally upgrade my 4S i'll probably get a 5S.

A quick glance at completed listings on eBay shows the typical iPhone 6 sale around £400. I'd bite your hand off if you offered me one for £250 (for a family member).
BTW I am one of those people upgrading from 6 to 6S Plus, a very worthwhile upgrade to me. Firstly I am going for the bigger screen which will be a whole new experience in itself. Secondly, everything I have heard so far about 3D Touch says it is a game changing extra dimension to the UI. Thirdly, my old 6 can be repurposed within the family.

I missed this post, my post to @davethorp applies here too, but really? You have a "well used and scratched/chipped" anything you won't be getting optimum price for it.

If you expect to get a decent return for a phone you would need to look after it properly, my iPhone 6 was around 10 months and still looked the same as the day it came out of its box, a decent case for an expensive "investment" is such a no-brainier that anyone who doesn't do so deserves the big financial hit that will follow.

I really can't believe that statement, let's go and buy a brand new Mercedes and drive it into a wall and then get all upset because it isn't worth the same as a low mileage, full service one which has been looked after...

The part of my post intended to reply to you got snipped in the recent ban/snip hammer. The thing you need to remember with eBay listings is that eBay will take a chunk in final value fees. PayPal will take another chunk so those £400 sales suddenly become more like £350.

For you it is probably more worth it as you are going from a 6 to a 6S plus. As an owner of a 6 plus I can say that the larger screen is definitely worthwhile. Other iPhones look tiny to me now after using this for a year

Never can see the point in paying out so much for something as sexy as the latest iPhone and then putting it in a case. My 3, 3G and 4S were never in cases and stayed pretty much mint until the day I sold them. All that is needed is a little care, don't put coins or keys in the same pocket and never, ever, ever, let the kids play with them.

Did I say that I personally own a "well used and scratched/chipped" iPhone 6 NO I meant in general, also I agree with what @davethorp has said if I was to sell my 16GB iPhone 6 on eBay for £350 + £7.20 P&P = £357.20 right, by the time eBay and PayPal take their fees my final total value will be £309.14 so for me to get the iPhone 6S 64GB I would have to pay £310

Never understood this myself aswell, why pay over £500 on a new iPhone to hide it away in a case, surely the point of having the "latest and greatest" is to show it off and make people know that you have it.

Glad to hear you say that, as I was in 2 minds. The thing that swung it for me was having a watch, as I have less reason to take the phone out of my pocket (or even have it on me).

That's where we differ. I buy iPhones for function rather than form. I couldn't care less what mine looks like.
