Are the Americans too overpowering for the British celebs

They dominate the show and take over, hogging the limelight . We've had some really dominating American characters in recent years like Gary Busey, Perez Hilton and this year 4 very dominating characters .

Is it time for the producers to go back to an all British House ? Or how about introducing some French, Spanish, Italian HMs for a change, who can speak English .

Problem is that the producers have chosen outrageously outspoken celebrities. If they had chosen less polarizing housemates things would have been different.

Perhaps if they picked actual stars instead of porn stars, fame chasers like Perez it would be different.

I enjoyed Gary Busey on the show

Absolutely agree.

The Americans spoil it it for me. The ones they have are far too loud and demanding and while being venomous themselves, take offence at the tiniest little thing. Their sense of entitlement brings them and the show, down.

Why can't I like this post? It's just so very true. It's that outrageous, nay crippling - sense of entitlement. It's either a fantastic game plan OR it's just very twisted.

There should be 2 different versions of CBB every year, one with big characters and plenty of arguments - and CBB Lite where viewers can choose to watch mild-mannered celebs with everybody getting along and chatting nicely among themselves. I believe the very first CBB was much like that.

The issue is that most of the UK team just see the show as a chance to make easy Money most of them are pathetic bores and are simply back up acts to the American team. I wonder if any of the people that make nasty comments about American people in general have ever been to America.

I have lived in the US and return often my daughter is American...so I have a good idea about Americans.

It is not that the British are bores it is the fact that there is a big culture difference between us.

Americans love to air there dirty washing in public...the Americans fight amongst themselves.

The Americans are very loud and love the sound of there own voices and they also have to be the centre of attention.

The Americans will fight to the death to get the most attention and air time.

Because the Brits are not doing this does not mean they are boring...they are sitting back and watching the comedy show in front of them...they have no need to play to the cameras the Americans are doing it for them.

Do not get me wrong I love America and it's people...but I am also glad to return home again to the world of sanity.

A bit of a generalisation, I don't remember Dirk Benedict, the 2 Jacksons or Stephanie Pratt being particularly attention seeking. However, there is usually a germ of truth in stereotyping - and this year's stereotypical Americans have proved to be better value for money than the stereotypically quiet Brits on Big Brother.

I just don't want them in the UK BB.

The accents are annoying, the fakery and game playing is tedious, the deliberate arguments get on your nerves.

We don't need them.
If I was a British celeb, I would never go into CBB if Americans were going to be in it.
3 weeks of misery putting up with their nonsense.

I have been to America around 40 times and I find the Americans far better mannered and more respectful than people in the UK but that is my opinion however I have to show respect to your points you have lived there. What annoys me is that nasty generalisation of the American people by members of the public that have not probably ever been to America.

I am sorry but you find there accents annoying that is a disgraceful thing to say. As for the Game Playing the biggest game player in that house is James imo and he is not American.

I agree with what you say...it was my mistake for making out that all Americans are like it...when they are not.

When Brits go to America they are more often then not to get a warm welcome.

I was stating more on the celebrity side of things.

I would tell anyone who has not been to the US to visit.

But with me I am always glad to come home...but glad to visit again.

I am not so sure about this:

"Day 9. Aled Jones is drinking tea with Ronnie Corbett debating wether a ginger nut is better for dunking than a garibaldi while Mary Berry is baking scones in the kitchen. The house erupts when Len Goodman asks about her soggy bottom. Big brother warns Len about his behaviour and as a punishment stops the supply of nightly horlicks until further notice"

Rather strange comment. Many of the British accents are just as annoying. Natasha's accent I cannot stand. One would think that in Britain they at least would all speak English the way it should be spoken, but far from it. Even the American accent is better than the majority of British accents.

I think this is the key. You can't judge the American public by their celebrities, and the same goes for the Brits. Some celebrities are like a different breed of human being to the rest of us They live in a very different world.

I too have lived in America as I have a son and his family who live there. I have also lived in the UK and my ancestors were Brits.

I agree that the Americans in general are more attention seekers than the Brits in general, however British tourists in general are known to be loud and obnoxious and are amongst the worst behaved. Far from the quiet well mannered type these HMs are managing to portray.

In this particular CBB the Americans fight amongst themselves because they have Janice and Austin, who are not sure if they actually want to be American or British.

Viewers are voting the Americans out, bar twists, so BB should stop stacking the house with people the public clearly don't like.

This is a UK show and viewers prefer UK housemates with an occasional American or Australian.

I couldn't agree with you more. The thing is there is a sizeable minority on here (and in the viewing public at large) that seem to throw their support wholeheartedly behind absolutely any US contestant no matter how obnoxious. It's like they're awe struck or have simply grown up on a TV diet of crappy US reality stuff.

I have rarely heard or know anything about the US contestants but quite a few seem to know them inside out and yet know absolutely nothing about older 'home grown' UK celebrities.
