Doctor Who - Excellent start to Series 9

Great storyline and a nice hark back to the original meeting of the Doctor (Tom Baker) and Davros. It is a good basis for moral decisions such as the Doctor's famous Quote "if you knew that child would grow up to be a dictator that would kill millions, could you kil that child?" Cant wait for part 2.

Would love to see a storyline where the Doctor meets Hitler as a child.

I really liked it as well, The cinematography alone blows anything from Smiths era away.
and PC played every emotion

Which examples of cinematography did you have in mind?

To be honest I thought the episode itself, despite some clever writing and great performances, felt a little slow. But the trade off is it bought the cast back together and set everything up for what's ahead in style. Now that's out of the way I anticipate an action packed second part and I'm looking forward to what the rest of the series offers.

Indeed quite a promising start for me. A "slow burner", as the Doctor puts it, with plenty of atmosphere, visuals, inventive characters and continuity to keep things engaging.

No drawn-out mystery-boxing or reveals on the back of the prequel episodes either :cat Just a simple plot, to make room for the character drama and scene progression, not to mention a brilliant cliff-hanger.

And I'm glad they're using a high-profile foe like Davros in the opening, instead of saving everything for the finale like they usually do. Yes, this is promising indeed. Maybe this'll finally be the one to top Series 5.

I was impressed too.
Only weak bit for me was the tank and guitar nonsense. It really didn't need that.
The rest of it I liked a lot. It had something different about its style which I liked.
It felt almost cinematic.

Isn't it funny that no one has yet had a go at the OP for creating a thread dedicated to their own opinion? One assumes this is because the opinion is positive. People are strange!

It was great & I say that with confidence as my wife enjoyed it.

She normally sneers when I watch Dr Who & calls me a child, but she commented on how good this one was.

Bodes well methinks!
