James is constantly putting Austin down
Forever telling him what's 'wrong' with him ... forever pulling him up about things ... forever pointing out his flaws ... forever criticising him ( to other housemates too )
Austin should just tell James to go hang out with Janice and Chloe instead, since he seems to think more highly of them than he does of him |

I just mentioned in another thread actually. That eventhough I do like that James will tell Austin when he's in the wrong. I do wish that he'd be more supportive when he needs him at times. Instead of just pointing out his negatives to all the others.

The 'You don't know me, I don't know you' speech to Austin when Austin was trying to be complimentary was an example of the not-quite-so-nice qualities James normally keeps under wraps.

James has never ever bitched behind his back, something that Austin and Jenna have done about James.
When James has a problem, he tells Austin and he only does it when he kicks off at the others. I see no problem with telling your friend that you are being stupid. I do it all the time to my friends. If I see them doing something silly, I tell them. And they don't get offended. Austin goes a bit OTT everytime. "That's so ****ing offensive!" Would he like it more if James lied to him or bitched about him behind his back? Even Natasha who is close to Austin says in tonight's show that Austin is losing it. So, obviously we are not seeing everything. Bobby has been spending less time with him too. So something must ring true, but everyones scared of bringing anything up just in case he says his usual "your a ****ing bitch" thing. Up until last week he was in my Top 3, but his behaviour towards Janice and Chloe (even though I don't like her much) is OTT. |

Yeah, I think it's fine when they're playing about and teasing each other, but sometimes in a serious conversation or an argument, James will make out that he's sort of doing Austin a favour by being friends with him. I don't think he means it, I just think he says it out of frustration.

That'd constitute bitching in this context, no? Given that Austin's 'bitching' is a related to his gradual realisation of James' efforts to present himself in a way just so for the benefit of us, the gullible viewers. In that sort of a situation wouldn't you discuss someone else's contradictions with others in an effort to get your head around what's really going on with them? Fair play to James, aside from a few holes appearing in his armour in the home stretch, he's pretty much played a text-book 'How To Win Big Brother' game, highlighted by his grandstanding speeches the last couple of days. I'd feel slightly untethered if I was in Austin's shoes as I increasingly suspect (and I imagine he does too) that he's effectively been used to promote the 'James: The All Round Nice Guy (ps he's also good-looking') re-branding exercise. Austin has his faults, for sure, but I get the sense what you see is pretty much what you get with him. James? Not so much... |

2xBiB - you seem very certain that James has 'never ever' bitched behind Austin's back while acknowledging we don't see everything...

Austin is a spoilt brat but yes James does seem to get off on talking down to Austin. If you notice when James is in an argument he really doesn't like hearing the other point of view and is constantly walking away. Doesn't want to let the real James out

I am not a fan of Austin now and do not condone his behaviour but I have to agree 100% what you have said about James! I have felt there was something dodgy about James for a couple of weeks now and like you I think he has used his relationship with Austin to get him in the position he is now and now he knows he's in the top 4 he feels he doesn't need Austin now!
Now, however, it's time to 'outgrow' the pesky gay who is holding him back, re-establish his 'red-blooded' credentials with a seemingly-from-nowhere sexmance with Jenna, while Janice trolls Austin to oblivion and back so that James get to deliver his sermons from the Altar of Mr Nice Guy (with added Grandfather references in there in case any heart-strings are left untugged) to demonstrate how he is the better man. ![]() He's going to walk this, be proclaimed as a role-model, while I (and only a handful of others, it seems) are going to be thinking of Jonny Rotten crouching down and snarling 'Ever got the feeling you've been had'. (As tongue in cheek as some of the above is, I truly believe he's been set up as a fall guy here to ensure a James win and is being played by James, Janice and probably BB, as they'll get their preferred top-American of Janice as a result) |

It's the final week. James has had his cute-airtime with his Bromance with Austin in the first two weeks and that's served him well (it was always going to benefit James more than Austin as, being the heterosexual of the two, he doesn't get labelled creepy for the more ostentatious flirtations and almost heroic for deigning to share his bed with a homosexual).
Austin brings it on himself. How can James defend him when there is nothing to defend ?
Everyday i see this forum moaning about Austin's behaviour but when James complains about it it's now seen as wrong
