Pointing it out! He was totally obnoxious, and way over the top. It was disgraceful how he spoke to her.
I love how his behaviour has now been interpreted as 'pointing it out that it was not OK'

I completely agree with everything else you say

But Janice doesn't listen ... which would be pretty frustrating if you were in there

She got off that rock because she didn't CARE if someone lost their letter or not ... she was tired and wanted to get in the house and had no interest in participating, like usual

Going for the 'prize' was just an excuse to get out of doing the task

What I don't understand is why Austin is the only one calling her out ... are the others too gutless to take on the self proclaimed 'Queen of reality TV' when she pulls that kind of crap ?

To be fair, most of us won't have a hard as nails, manipulative, attention seeking mother anything remotely like Janice, so the comparison is pretty much pointless.
Not really, because Janice is somebodies mother, and I'm pretty sure her children would not be too pleased with Austin's over the top behaviour towards her.

He was out of order. End of.

And I'm pretty sure Austin's partner wasn't too pleased when Janice contemptuously threw his letter at Austin's feet either

Spiteful old bat

Do you think Janice's children would be particularly pleased with her bandying about the word 'c***' earlier in the series? How about her spitting at him?

She's been needling him for weeks. She knows she can get away with it because she plays the 'confused biddy' card whenever she needs to but she knows full well what she's doing. Austin lacks the emotional maturity to shake it off, but there's clear intent on her part and while he's hotheaded, somewhat foolish and easily wound-up, she's downright vindictive as far as I can tell.

So what do you think of Janice getting off the rock, knowing she would lose someone else their letter from home ?

You think that was OK ?

You think Austin was wrong for pointing out it was not OK ?
In the first place it was Jenna who said 'I think someone should get off'.

In the second place he did a little bit more than point it out. He threw a complete hissy fit and went on and on about it - then, just like a baby he refused her apology

When they were sat listening to Big Brother he very rudely shushed her when she started to speak.

He has been acting like a spoilt brat towards her for days - when she had to choose who didn't get their letter who else was she going to choose?

Janice could so easily have asked the others what they thought, before she got off the rock, but she didn't. As usual, she selfishly did what SHE wanted, not caring about the consequences for others. Her apology was the most insincere ever. She spitefully denied Austin his letter, despite James volunteering to forgo his, just because he'd criticised Janice. Then she made a huge show of not accepting her letter knowing perfectly well that the cameras would be trained on her. "Evict me", she cried, the Queen of Reality TV understanding perfectly well she would never be evicted for giving good TV.

And people are criticising Austin? What programme are you watching?

I don't care how old Janice is, she's a selfish old bat who only really cares about herself. I can't believe people have been fooled by her.

You mean like how she's very rudely shushed him and others continually throughout her stay?

Very true I'll give you that. She really isn't very nice either.

TBH - I don't particularly like either of them but in this instance I think Austin acted like a petulant, spiteful child and Janice repaid him in kind.

What goes around comes around I guess.

He's been deeply unpleasant since the first night and that turned out to be the high point as he's only got worse.

I can't believe anyone is defending Austin. His behavior, and the way he talks to people is atrocious. I just caught up on the last twp episodes, and in both he talked to Janice like she was lower than scum. Even Jenna and Farrah didn't get as nasty as him. They expressed annoyance, but I can't recall them resorting to name calling like Austin constantly does. Janice being a nutcase is absolutely no excuse. She acts a fool, but she's doesn't do the nasty name calling like he does. If this is his tv edited version of himself imagine how awful he is in real life. I shudder to think about how he talks to his parents and husband when they annoy him. Bottom line is he's being paid to be on a game show. This is not life and death. He is not going to receive more money if he passes those quizzes, and yeah he misses his hubby (but you couldn't tell with how obsessed he is with James), but he'll see him in a week. Bottom line is he is classless, arrogant, and not someone I could stand to spend a full day with. I'm surprised no one has self-evicted.

Which could have been an opening to a discussion of whether someone should go for the prize - they had 5 minutes - except that Janice decided her opinion was more important than anyone else's.
In the second place he did a little bit more than point it out. He threw a complete hissy fit and went on and on about it - then, just like a baby he refused her apology
You must have been watching a different programme. He said two sentences. Janice's apology was completely insincere. She wasn't sorry. Kudos to Austin for refusing to accept it.

When they were sat listening to Big Brother he very rudely shushed her when she started to speak.
The clue is in your comment "listening to Big Brother". He's right to shush Janice talking over BB.

He has been acting like a spoilt brat towards her for days - when she had to choose who didn't get their letter who else was she going to choose?
James, who asked her to pick him? Maybe not Austin who had won tasks for the Americans and secured privileges for Janice. Doesn't she realise she has been a nightmare since she set foot in the house? And choosing Austin, just showed how insincere her apology was. She was so sorry to upset Austin, but later on perfectly happy to plunge the knife in.

She's despicable and deserves everything she gets.

BiB - How do you reconcile that sentence with her calling fellow housemates 'c***s' earlier in the series?

Are you serious? Jarrah did nothing but call people names. And Austin criticises people for the way they behave towards him. He's not endlessly speculating about "who's fake" or "who's playing a game" or making bullets for other people to fire. Look at Natasha telling James if he doesn't start standing up to Austin he's going to look weak. What business is that of hers? And James doesn't need to be told to stand up for himself. But anyway it caused an argument between Austin and James, so Natasha got what she wanted.

My sympathy lays entirely with Austin, i dont see how anyone can feel otherwise. He was certainly forthright in the expression of his understandable annoyance at the selfish behaviour of Janice and of Bobbys attempt to excuse it, but nowhere near as aggressive or insulting as people are claiming him to have been.

To the above poster. TBH, I don't remember the context of Janice's 'c*unts' comment. Was it in the DR? Or addressed to a single person to their face? I don't blame any of them for going off in the DR. That is how they vent. They all say nasty things. I find the fact that Austin is so nasty to people's faces really disgusting. It's fine to say you're upset, or you're not ready to forgive, but the constant name calling he does is so damn rude. It's clearly a way to demoralize the person he's talking down to. He loses any high ground he might have had.

Austin criticizes people period. They've all said he jumps into every drama even when it has nothing to do with him. He's extremely nasty about it too which is why people are growing uncomfortable. As for Jenna/Farrah I was speaking in terms of the incident with the quiz couch specifically, but I still haven't found either one of them to be as hurtful and mean as Austin has turned into. I thought Bobby's 'you're ugly inside' speech was cruel as well since he wouldn't shut up, but Austin goes beyond that for me. Does he do anything other than pant after James and be negative and snide? I'm not even a fan of Natasha, but she obviously likes James and is sick of seeing this merry go round with Austin. Austin flips his shit every time James doesn't agree with him. He takes it as a personal affront, and acts like a child who didn't get his way. James is a mature adult with opinions of his own. I like him a hell of a lot more now than at the start, because he sticks by what he says, and doesn't let Austin and Jenna bully him into talking shit when he doesn't want to. So yeah, I guess Natasha did get what she wanted. Her friend is free from the albatross around his neck.

I don't think it was. The silly woman needs shouting at.

Just because she cried everyone feels sorry for her. Well I don't.

That look she gave austin at the end of the highlight show was smug. I interpreted that look as, "I've won,"

I think it disgraceful how she sat down in the middle of an argument too.

Austin doesn't get it.

Janice winds him up and OFF HE GOES. The boy is a fool, he plays right into her hands. He thinks no one sees through Janice's shtick, they do, but they know how to handle it, he doesn't.

I don't think it was. The silly woman needs shouting at.

If Austin had ignored it and carried on Janice would have got no air time and he'd have got some brownie points.

If he'd have pointed it out sensibly and been calm when he told her how upset he was, he'd have been fine.

But shouting and railing and being aggressive put HIM in the wrong, she WON.

Austin thinks everyone is a fool but him, but HE'S the fool, and he played right into her hands. All he needed to do was NOT act in such an unpleasant way. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

The way he acted made him look aggressive, petulant, and childishly nasty. He should try owning his own silly mugdom.

He doesn't even NOTICE that Jenna is always 'nice' to her and only bitches and encourages AUSTIN to be overtly horrible. I bet she's really pleased with all this, and her efforts to turn Austin from James as well.

Maybe she was tired. It's not unusual for someone of that age and build to be tired easily. So what if she got off the rock. They only have 5 days left.

This letters from home nonsense is a load of bull anyway. You'd think they'd done a tour of duty in Vietnam the way they carry on, not lived in a TV studio in Hertfordshire for 3 weeks.

Janice is 60 and appears frail, she clearly is suffering from the cold and wasn't able to do more then an hour. She is a diva but also has feelings and Austin should be more considerate. But he clearly doesnt have any respect for his elders. Its disgusting.
