Again! That's a lazy word to through around the whole point of forums is to share thoughts and ideas, you're not meant to like them but if you do keep quite or make a well argued opposing point just shouting out 'troll' shows you don't have a sensible argument.
To back up my suggestion, a few years back Richard Skinner did mid mornings on XFM so why is the idea of Tarrant doing a Radio X show so absurd, don't forget he did Capital Breakfast in the 00s, so is moving onto Radio X daytimes in the 10s really that absurd an idea? Radio 1 is ageist but Radio X isn't before people start being ageist and acuse Tarrant of being too old. Over 60s can still be good radio presenters you know. But, Global are picking presenters that will appeal to the stated target audience of each of their respective stations. Classic FM listeners would be likely to turn off if their breakfast show was suddenly presented by Tim Westwood. Capital Xtra listeners would likely desert the station if James O'Brien suddenly rocked up.... In the examples above the names would have too little in common with the target audience of the station. By the same token Tarrant would likely fit in on Smooth or Gold, but not Radio X. |

I agree that Dan O'Connel does stick out on their otherwise 'personality-driven' schedule.

Tarrant maybe older but he has always appealed to audiences much younger than him, so the 25 year old who enjoyed him on Capital in 2000 is now the 40 year old who would enjoy him on Radio X. Another big radio name I'd like to hear on Radio X is Jonathan Ross, yes I know he was on Radio 2 but despite being in his mid 50s he appeals to younger listeners and also has that edginess that Radio X are looking for. Plus he is a very good radio presenter. With the exception of Jon Holmes, John Kennedy, Clint Boon, Maz and the two Sat AM guys who offer something different I don't see the point of the other ex XFM DJs, by all means keep a few for cover and minor slots but they have no personality and are your typical commercial DJs with short sharp links not what Radio X is supposed to be about. Lets get some more personality DJs; Scott Mills, Mark & Lard (Would be a big ku to extract them from 6Music and they could broadcast from Global's Manchester studios), Russel Brand, Greg James, Ricky Gervais, Geoff Lloyd, Frank Skinner, Andy Bush, Rob Beckett could be options. |

Think Scott Mills should be a drivetime on Radio X with as much speech as he wants. He will move as its a better slot then the old BBC Radio 1 afternoon slot and the higher paycheck.

Sorry, but your ideas are ludicrous. Big stations need people who fit their target market, not some megalomaniac 1 DJ on a whole cross-genre of stations. Tarrant is clearly not going to appeal to a contemporary rock audience. Can't decide if you're trolling or just deluded.

Moyles is the exception on Radio X. He brings a huge following with him who are not that fussed about the music and just want to hear him talk and mess around on air.
I am enjoying his show but I was an XFM listener before and enjoyed the music they played. At times I feel that the breakfast show musically is like putting on a best of Britpop CD with a couple of newer tracks thrown in to keep the record companies happy (Chvrches + libertines). |

![]() Scott Mills isn't Radio X material, he's good but I don't think mis music tastes link to X and I'm not sure his style would go down well, his/Moyles' audience were quite different, speak to a die hard Mills fan and they don't like Moyles and vice/versa. Zane Lowe would have been a coup but that's not happening now, I'd love to hear Jo Whiley again too but she probably is in line with a prime R2 slot in the next few years. |

So I'm guessing nobody watched the periscope from Chris last night then?
• Is humbled by the attention he's had since returning • Is playing fast & lose with the format at the moment • Took months to get the contract right • Said that "Dave (Comedy) has his own thing now with his production company" • Aled was ask to come to X but decided to stay with the BBC • Said he gets angry with people slagging of Nick Grimshaw & says he is the only Radio 1 he still speaks with regularly "I've got no beef with Nick" • Freya is working for BBC America now • He had a clash on his Sky+ last night • Has a plan for cover whilst he is away but it's just being finalised • Loves Hirsty (as we all do!) • Billboard campaign starts next week • Global approached him for the show "we want you to come and do what you do, you know what I do and you'll let me do it" • Has met with Johnny Vaughan but not a proper meeting but wants to "won't that be interesting" • Hasn't spoken to Longman for ages. He now runs a Gym in America. They did fall out "over something really stupid but we text now and again" • Car Park Catchphrase will never come back. Ever. • "Greg James coming RadioX" commented by viewer to which Chris just made a joke of Greg James coming. Radio X |

I only listen to Chris on RadioX - and so far I've heard Feeder, Just A Day twice in the space of a week.
And this is on a show that doesn't play a lot of music. Just A Day by Feeder is a tune, but it should be a 'havent heard this one for years!' sort of tune - not a week. |

Today's show certainly reaching out to people who listened to Capital breakfast between 30 and 11 years ago. What sort of age profile would those listeners be 40+?

Asking Tarrant to co host a show with him, is the idea of Tarrant on Radio X really that wild?

Brilliant interview with Tarrant, I think you have to have been listening to Moyles for years to appreciate it, very random, all over the place, but fun.

The old XFM listeners need to realise Radio X is a brand new station who have just hired 3 high profile 40 somethings they are targeting older listeners who enjoy references to the past. Sick of people thinking Tarrant is irrelevant to Radio X listeners, to XFM listeners yes but Radio X listeners are a different demographic who probably remember Tarrant's past with affection like Moyles. Don't forget we've also had Debbie Mcgee and Keith Chegwin's voicemail messages on today's show, this is a sign that Radio X is definitely aiming older and less cool than XFM. |

So Tarrant presenting is a ridiculous idea, yet Pat Sharp doing the Platinum hour is ok?

Chris Tarrant he's had his time in the spotlight now let's allow him to retire gracefully, if in the unfortunate position he ever returned to Global the only suitable station would be Gold. He really is as dull as dishwater.
All these other suggestions about the same old same old coming to Radio X; Geoff Lloyd, Scott Mills, Joe Whiley are these people the only talent we have left in UK radio that's remotely suitable for stations like Radio X. There must be hundreds of really good presenters throughout the country on tin pot stations, yet people on here just keep mentioning the same old names all the time as suitable Radio X presenters. Global need to be doing more in terms of reaching for fresh new talent by checking other stations around the UK even community/hospital stations because hidden away are some really good people who deserve the opportunity. |

Well that's the problem, there could be many presenters in the same place as Moyles was in 1995 who are not given any freedom to showcase what they can do.
Where is the next Moyles going to come from? |

It's great having Moyles back on the radio. My listening throughout the day is now sorted. Moyles at breakfast, Apple Music between 10 and 1, Scott Mills at 1, and Greg James at 4.
I think Scott is still very much on top form at R1, and Greg is doing a great job and I think he'll do a good job if he ever gets R1 Breakfast (arguably, he should've got that gig after Moyles went and then I wouldn't have deserted the show). |

Agreed, great Moyles is unleashed from the BBC and no longer has to ensure he is targeting 16-24 year olds he can happily reference Tiswas from the 70/80s and Capital radio from the 80/90s.

Pat Sharp on the Platinum Hour... fine. Pat Sharpe doing a regular slot is unlikely. Global are masters at fine tuning a format and relentlessly targeting a demographic. The Radio X demo is stated on the This is Global website. Tarrant does not fit that demo. |

Thanks to James for mentioning Chris on Periscope. I just downloaded the app and watched it back.
I'm glad Chris has no beef with Grimmy and he stuck up for him. I like them both so I'm glad there's no hard feelings. |
