I agree, especially the impressions of Richard Park, non-industry folk have no idea who he is.

I remember him from Fame Academy, so I know who he is. I'm sure plenty of other people do too. What I don't know is if he's really as horrible as he came across back in those days, he didn't appear to have a single redeeming quality on that show.

What was that, 1 series 14 years ago? I very much doubt the average man in the street will even remember the show, let alone who Richard Park is and what he sounds like. Outside of radio industry circles he is not a household name by a long shot.
I think what people are forgetting is that this show is only TWO WEEKS into existing. Chris and the team have started from scratch and will need to not only build up the features they have, but also all the audio clips and sound effects that Chris built up over the years at Radio 1. The wheel of Global stations was 5 days (maybe 4?), and the 'celebrity' wheel the same, what exactly are people wanting here - a new feature every day? |

I listened to the Jon Holmes show today and last Saturday & it just reinforced what is now missing from the breakfast slot now.
On paper, both presenters like a laugh, both enjoy talking nonsense, both are good at listener interaction with competitions but, & I'm surprised I saying this, Jon is so much less self obsessed that it opens the show out to the audience whereas Chris focusses the show on the jokes, situations & banter between the staff members and closes the audience off a bit more. I like Moyles on breakfast and it's a nice nostalgia trip (bring back Carpark Catchphrase
) and I'm sure it's better ratings for Global, but I miss Holmes. He really was great. |

Something is missing from the Moyles Show now, I think the planning of the show sounds pretty rushed and it seems Moyles and the team quite literally leave the station at around 11am and do their own personal things.
I would have thought spending the rest of the day listening back to the show and arranging team discussions to discuss/improve links/features/discussions etc would be the top priority for the next month or two. Even selecting a few hundred listeners and having a private little event to listen to views about what's working and was isn't. The show seems cold, quiet, silly, repetitive and on a very restricted budget. I do hope Chris can bring what he had at the BBC to Radio X but with new ideas. |

The Chris Moyles show to me seems like its still on the starting block, Maybe getting some listeners on air to chat to the whole team could improve the flow in the 20 mins in the morning.

Am I too old at 55 to be listening to Radio X, I didn't listen to XFM but find that I'm not sure where to be. Radio 1 , Capital and Kiss just seem to play 1 track between them (that's how it sounds to me). Same goes for Smooth and Magic its just funereal sounding (except for Richard Allinson Show which is a good listen) LBC for me is okay in small doses, Talksport to me are just guys having fun which is okay. Radio 4 and 5Live again small doses (5 Live minuscule doses) So that leaves BBC London which I can relate to or dare I now say Radio X > I listened to Jon Holmes this morning and what a great show that was. I've even given Moyles a try but a bit too much interaction but I'm sticking with it for now. I hadn't mentioned Radio 2 but I find the daytime line up past its best. But listened last night to the entire Gambicini show whilst driving and that was real quality.

Is Chris Moyles going through financial difficulity? As today it's the 6th day he's been asking companies for freebies. Today he was asking for a new mobile phone, begging for freebies on a National Radio station sounds pretty poor.

Personally I've loved having Chris back, I never listned to XFM mainly because the FM in Manchester was awful, it barely stretched outside the city limits, but DAB is a game changer. I went over to 6 music when he left Radio 1, but while Shaun Keavney was entertaining I had to go back to Moyles. Yes he is marmite but he is the only DJ that makes me laugh out loud while driving. |

He used to do it on the BBC, maybe not brands always but he'd ask for a new games console or sometimes a pizza/food.
It's all in jest. |

And yet again Amara comes into a thread dedicated to a station he supposedly doesn't like and never listens to, just to look down his nose and belittle those that do like and listen.
Go away. ![]() What are you some kind of TROLL always concerned as & when I post. Well just get used to it. If I wish to comment I will. I couldn't care less if you approve or not. Why can't you get it into your head that there is NO RULE on DS to say that you have to be an avid listener to make a comment. :

I agree, especially the impressions of Richard Park, non-industry folk have no idea who he is. The Global Brands wheel is also very insular. I've heard them discussing split links, the play out system etc too.
I notice that Moyles spends a lot of his time associating with other radio industry people, pretty much all of his friends seem to be other jocks or producers. I wonder if he spent so much time "talking shop" during his 3 years off that its second nature now. Of course, industry folk/anoraks are loving all the inside-radio talk, but it must be confusing to normal listeners. As for Richard Park, that's why the jingle says 'Director of Broadcasting Richard Park)-and of course Scots like my wife are well aware of who Richard Park is from his own broadcasting days. |

Chris was bought in to give something different to the new rebrand for one of global networks. I think the show is absolutely top class and will boost global profile. He's been given a certain free hand able to nearly knock down a few other radio stations with in the building doors for the first week to show them he's there. Some great ideas long may he continue

Charmless Man and Charming Man both played on the show today.
Chris had a dig at the repetitive playlist again after Charmless Man saying you don't hear it enough unless you listen to Radio X all day. Love that he can have a dig at the station he's on. Do any Heart/Capital DJs comment on the fact they play some songs a lot? |
