Yes very Radio 2 esk, he could easily do a show like Mayo's or Steve Wrights with more energy though.

Sara Cox even texted him, I beta lot of radio industry djs etc listen. Its amazing how eh can get away with this on commercial radio.

They show aim to get more money from show sponsorship and run less ads.

Jon Holmes seems to be covering breakfast with other slots being slightly amended.

As much as I'm enjoying the shows, there's been something missing in terms of light and shade. I think one thing the show misses compared to R1 days is someone equivalent to Aled, who can play the 'innocent abroad' role. i.e. someone apparently naive about the world who Chris could wind up on issues that most of the audience got and were in on the joke, but Aled wasn't. There isn't a equivalent character in the team.

4:00am Jack Saunders
6:30am Jon Holmes
9:00am The Chris Moyles Show
12:00pm Jo Good
3:00pm Dan O Connell
7:00pm Phil Clifton

Surely they aren't going to broadcast what amount to a talk radio show at 9am to midday every morning?

From what they've said on-air it's going to be a "Best of." I imagine the reasoning behind this is to showcase the show to people who might get DAB as a Christmas present.

I'm sure Dan O'Connell said the other day that Christmas Day will be the usual line-up - Moyles, Kay, him and Vaughan - I presume most of this will be recorded but a good showcase for new listeners.

Im sure Chris said theyre doing breakfast (albeit on tape/best ofs) throughout?

Dominic the donkey, Shakin' Stevens and PJ & Duncan all played this morning, Radio X certainly sounding musically different to XFM. Still a Platinum hour to come to.

They are, in the form of 'best of's' (maybe with pre-recorded links), but if the posts in this thread are correct it'll be in a 9am-12pm slot and not the usual breakfast show slot.

Christmas Eve schedule now up on the Radio X website, Jon Holmes hosts breakfast, rest of the daytime schedule as normal, then a 4 hour Xmas Platinum hour schedule from 9am with Chris, obviously one of the pre records he was moaning about being busy doing after each day's show this week

9pm correction

Does the station remit state breakfast must be live?

Can anyone get the rwind/ff to work on the android app for listen again?

Yes the "skip" function now works for me! Listen Again AND skip! Christmas came early!

Good point - that might well explain why the pre-rec best-ofs seem to have moved from breakfast to mid-morning.

Jon Holmes confirmed at the weekend he was hosting weekday breakfast for a couple of weeks from Christmas Eve, apart from Christmas Day when it would be a Moyles pre-rec at Breakfast.

Looking forward to Jon Holmes back on weekday breakfast or a bit (even though I'm a Moyles fan) - my area didn't have DAB XFM so Holmes was podcast only for me until X came along. It's a bit unusual for a former breakfast show presenter to be moved to weekends but then be the stand-in for the new breakfast show presenter when they're away.

Lucky you. Both on the Android app and in a web browser on a PC the listen again seldom works reliably for me. Thankfully there's a way of downloading the underlying mp4 file that's being used meaning I just treat it as a "podcast" and listen to it on whatever I want. Global should really fix the listen again issues though, really tedious.

Anyone know what the announcement was this morning? He sad it with the mics down and said he would reveal more later. Then I arrived at work.

Nothing announced up until 8.45, did say something about a contract dotting the is crossing the t's?

A new team member or tour?

The guesses on text/twitter included chris getting married/having a kid, staying radio x for 10 years and chris moyles quiz night coming back. All he said were incorrect

The address varies for each listen again programme and it's not as simple as just clicking a single link for the latest show, it requires a little bit of effort...

On the website radio player, choose any programme to listen again, when the programme starts playing, right click and view source. Search through the HTML until you find a http address for an .mp4 file. For example, today's TCMS has one of:

http://fs.geronimo.thisisglobal.com/...d4c7c708d4.mp4

Open that in a modern browser and you'll get html5 playback of the file. If you right click the player you'll normally see an option to save audio or similar. Do that and then you download the MP4 file to your computer.

Easy!

Thanks! That's very useful.

I've since found out that on chrismoyles.net, enthusiasts have uploaded most if not all of his shows since 2004 and many before that. I'm surprised that the broadcasters allow this. I was told off by Absolute a few years ago when posting edited shows on this forum.

It's not really advertised & Chris himself has commented on the great archive the site had so he's OK with it

The BBC never bothered with it, early days as to if Global will, Chris knows it's happening though I imagine
